Excellent but underrated film
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
The best thing about this movie is Christian Kane. I have seen several of his movies and I continue to be amazed by the depth and breadth of his acting. The fact Christian sings in this movie is an added bonus! If you're a fan of Christian Kane, this movie is worth your time.If you're not a Christian Kane fan, don't waste your time. Watching Gil Bellows act is like watching paint dry. The other actors aren't much better. The movie had potential but it fell short. If it wasn't for Christian, I would have given this movie a 1. In my opinion, he was the saving grace of this movie.
This film is completely predictable without rendering any entertainment value whatsoever. Its simply terrible. It amazes me that work like this actually gets made; moreover, it has the guts to solicit money, as if making the film were equal, in some far away galaxy, to having suffered through watching it. The twists and turns travel deep into plot point after point until the mystery unravels itself into portraiture--nothing meaningful happens. What does occur are heavy-handed maneuvers in story conventions at the expense of the audience. Surely there is no conscious disdain for the viewer, but to scorn film goers through reckless naivety isn't just no matter how mot just the intentions might have been. Furthermore, it is hard to believe that any skill lies in either the craft to create story or to successfully, manipulate deceitfully. Neither are done subtly thus neither are received auspiciously. Hopefully the cast and crew were given the proper time to jump ship before this boat sank back into the mind from which it came. Perhaps Writer/Director Pollard should stick to voice-overs?
I went for a nice ride on this film, the vehicles suspension wasn't to stiff, it handled very well, I wasn't required to be sophisticated to understand it's workings; yet it retained the required mystery, many thanks to the engineers for not adding a surplus of bells and whistles, sometimes less really is more with the exception of Jennifer Westfeldt that is. I would have enjoyed a lot more of her. However here my judgment might be clouded, as I think she would be fascinating just reading the phone book.I enjoyed a friends advice to pay close attention, as the plot had some detail that could easily be missed. I took the recommendation and gave the film the attention it deserves.Bellows,Raver and kane delivered their craft well and Raver was convincingly scary as the heartless wife. I may have rated it to high but it was refreshing not to see unnecessary violence in a decent thriller and of course then there is the Wesfeldt factor.Wow!
I don't know what the hell people are bitching about on this page. This was a great movie - it really does keep you on the edge of your seat - and has a great cast. It has a great twist at the end - and you really don't know "who-dun-it" till the very end - it was really enjoyable... and yes - i worked on this film - but i took 5 friends to see it who all agree with me. in summary...this film makes you question your relationships with others - you can't always trust everyone - and you certainly don't know everything about your friends. (in short - you'll leave questioning all relationships in your life) i think it was a great film - but you should see it for yourself.
