I Can Only Imagine
10-year-old Bart Millard lives with his mother and abusive father Arthur in Texas. One day his mother drops him off at a Christian camp where he meets Shannon. Upon his return from camp, Bart finds his mother has left and movers are removing her belongings. He angrily confronts his father, who denies that his abusiveness was the reason she left. Years later, in high school, Bart and Shannon are dating. Bart plays football to please his father but is injured, breaking both ankles and ending his career. The only elective with openings is music class, so he reluctantly signs up.

Simply Perfect
Good story, Not enough for a whole film
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
This movie is pure, full of power of love, a heartbreaker story with dad and his son. I enjoyed watching it with my every single tear, honestly it approached a deep length in my heart and let me feel there're still more time to forgive, to change and to love. The movie in general was too short I didn't feel the time passed, the actors were fantastic. It's kind of movies you can watch alone and got ideas and you can watch it with others and got more ideas about life. The musics are amazing and the only thing I didn't like is the dad character I was expected the very very monster human ever ! yeah he's bad but not as bad as I thought. personally I experienced the same thing Bart did. Finally, I hope all kids who are suffering from abuse got their help in life.
This movie was incredible! I already love the band Mercy Me been to many of their concerts. Love them already but Bart showing the world his story, his past, his hurt, his pain and God's love through all of it was just amazing and beautiful. It just shows that whatever pain you have been through, God will make it work for good. If this movie doesn't tug at your heart nothing will! Forgiveness is something I have spent the last year working on, so this movie really sealed the progress that I have made with God's guidance. There are so many hurting people in this world. This movie has the possibility to be a life changer if people allow it. RENT IT!
I love this movie. This is the 1st song I heard when someone gave me this cd for Christmas. I was sold and for the last 20 years I follow Christ and Christian music.
I watched this at home on DVD from my public library system. Some call this a "faith based" story but that misses the point. It is about a boy from a small Texas town who loved music and refused to give up on his dreams, in the face of long odds. And in the process needed to forgive his abusive dad.This is a really good movie, especially for anyone who appreciates music and singing. In a stroke of casting luck they found J. Michael Finley to play the lead part of Bart Millard, the real writer of "I Can Only Imagine". Finley happens to be the son of a Baptist minister and who grew up going to MercyMe concerts. And he also happens to be a professionally trained singer with several years' experience on stage singing some of the most famous parts. He of course does all his own singing and is a really gifted singer. Young Bart was always a dreamer but his dad Arthur, played well by Dennis Quaid, was mean to him and often downright brutal. Much of the story is how Bart survived this and found his way into music.Also good is singer Trace Adkins as Brickell, an entertainment manager who helped the MercyMe band get recognition.
