Good , But It Is Overrated By Some

When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

This film tells the story of a series of murders of police officers in London. The police manages to locate and detain the suspect, but there is no hard evidence to prosecute him. The police has to work extra hard before he strikes again."Blitz" is all about​ Jason Statham, who is a rude policeman with little regard for rules. His character is interesting as he is good at his job but appears to be a bad guy. The plot is engaging and delivers thrills. It is special as well because it is the first time Jason Statham and Luke Evans star together in a film, before they appear together in the Fast and the Furious series.

A though cop named Tom Brant (Jason Statham) is going through a rough time: he drinks to much, has problems focusing and uses way to much violence against criminals. But Brant soon has a focus for his anger when a mysterious serial killer starts killing cops on by one. He teams up with newly transferred Sgt Porter Nash to try to catch this serial killer who likes to call himself 'Blitz', after Blitz Krieg.Blitz is a simple police movie with a few attempts at drama and some fine action scenes. Statham is descent in this film and these kind of roles are working for him, although there could be more humor thrown in; his character is a bit to one-dimensional. The chemistry between his partner Nash (played by Paddy Considine) also works good on screen, they start off rough but eventually connect as the film progresses. Aidan Gillen also does a descent job playing the insane serial killer, but they could make him more menacing.What didn't work for me at all was the sub-plot with the female cop Elizabeth Falls who needed Brant's help to solve her own problems. They could just leave that out and focus more on the main plot, this attempt at drama and to show that Brant also has 'feelings' felt to forced for me. The ending was also a bit of a let down, it almost felt like they had to quickly finish it because they were out of budget.All in all it's a slightly above average crime movie but it doesn't offer much more then an episode of your favorite crime TV series.

Jason Statham stars as Brant, a rugged copper with anger issues. He likes a drink or twelve, likes to beat down on bad guys and is a constant source of PR hassle for his superior. When a serial killer known as Blitz (Aidan Gillen) starts killing police officers, Brant takes it personal.It is what it is really, just what you would expect from a Statham movie, where the tagline says it all, Cop Killer Vs Killer Cop! There's lots of chases, fighting, quips, brooding menace and with Brant teamed up with Paddy Considine's gay Officer Nash, some room for cheeky devilment. Director Elliott Lester and cinematographer Rob Hardy favour a scuzzy colour palette that befits the London locations, all while Ilan Eshkeri's sound tracking pounds away its feral beats.One sub-plot involving Zawe Ashton's rehab released copper doesn't serve much of a purpose, and you have to take with a pinch of salt how Blitz goes about his business (he leaves finger prints everywhere!) But it's The Stath kicking butt and that is more often than not good enough for a good time, such is the case here. 6.5/10

Watch this if....you want to watch a movie involving a serial cop-killer that doesn't involve twists and turns or much thought by the viewer. If you like Jason Statham, I would recommend this film to you.Acting/Casting: 6* - Jason Statham plays his typical tough, hard-nosed role in this film and does it well as usual. He is void of feelings, no nonsense and has no care for the law or rules. Most of the supporting cast is new to me, but I thought Patty Considine does a solid job in the lead protagonist role.Directing/Cinematography/Technical: 6* - Again, this movie is straightforward and tells the story in a very blatant manner. The dark lighting in many spots in the film add to the overall dark theme of the story, which was a nice touch.Plot/Characters: 5.5* - There is a serial cop-killer on the loose and Jason Statham and company must find him before he kills more cops. The story isn't anything new and the material is blatant on purpose. For some that will be a good thing and for others it will not.Entertainment Value: 6.5* - Even though it didn't have any twists or turns, the movie was an entertaining watch.
