Save your money for something good and enjoyable
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie will risk everything to protect the people she cares most about, proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world. The Host is a pretty slow movie in general but if you give it the right fair share of chance it truly shows it's true potentials and the acting was pretty damn good especially from Saoirse and Diane Krueger who plays the main antagonist. Definitely a movie that i would recommend you to check out soon. (10/10)
I absolutely fell in love with the book and then to have the movie resemble so many moments with the same amount of detail was great. Saoirse was perfect for Melanie and what made this movie so perfect was how truly pure the love between Ian and Wanda was because after all he ,Ian the human loved her, the soul called wanderer. It's a little sad that some of the most beautiful lines from the book didn't make it into the movie but I still loved it
First: I really enjoyed this movie. I love sci-fy and when it gets to be combined with a story of fully dynamic characters that show the heart of being what we would call human is deeper than being a homo sapien. An engaging plot riddled with surprising moments that showed me where I have room to grow in expanding my own understanding of how our differences are much less important that our similarities.Second: This is one of those movies that can best be appreciated by someone who enjoys the trailer. The movie is as advertised and from the heart. If you want to hold it to the public lens of what most people think is good then continue to read reviews written by people paid to write them for that general public. If you are less interested in an Oscar nomination and more interested in a store that speaks in your heart, then you probably shouldn't care about the TomatoMeter so much. Enjoy it if you thought you would before you looked up it's rating, you still will.
Yes, the movie gets bogged down by some show-stopping incomprehensions, some hilarious bloopers and some bouts of overacting (ah, Diane Kruger...), but to be frank, it could've been much worse, and the end result is... enjoyable. The story does not require that much thought if you are in for the laughs, the acting can be decent at times, the music is enjoyable (well, it is the highlight of the movie), and in the end, you have passed a satisfying amount of time watching it. So all in all... OK.
