Good story, Not enough for a whole film
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
Very Bad ThingsThe purpose of having a stag is to remind the bachelor of how pathetic single life is.Unfortunately, the groom in this comedy may be spending his wedding in jail. For his bachelor party, Kyle's (Jon Favreau) fiancée (Cameron Diaz) has arranged for him and his friends (Jeremy Piven, Christian Slater, Daniel Stern) to spend the weekend in Las Vegas.Things go awry, however, when they kill a stripper, dismember her body and bury it in the desert. Back home, they have a hard time keeping the secret and as a result scramble to shift the blame as more bodies pile up.With deplorable characters in over-the-top situations, this disturbingly dark comedy from 1998 lacks a conscience along with any plausibility. Regardless, this cult hit is actually more relevant today then when it tanked 20 years ago.Lastly, its more cost-effective to hold a his and hers stripper strangling party.Yellow Lightvidiotreviews.blogspot.ca
Peter Berg's 1998 dark comedy stars Christian Slater, Cameron Diaz, Jon Favreau, Daniel Stern, Leland Orser, Jeremy Piven and Jeanne Tripplehorn. This tells of Kyle (Favreau) who is about to be married to fiancée, Laura (Diaz). Kevin goes with pals, Robert (Slater), Charlie (Orser), Adam (Stern) and Michael (Piven) to Las Vegas where they throw his bachelor party. Soon, things get very tense after a stripper (Kobe Tai) is accidentally killed and they decide to cover it up. Tripplehorn (Basic Instinct) plays Adam's wife, Lois. This is a pretty good flick with humorous, tense and dramatic moments. Slater & the cast are great and his twisted character sort of resembles his J.D. role in "Heathers." I recommend this.
Good premise ruined by horrible, over the top acting ,and over- reacting that was intended to hide the horribly weak plot development ..This movie is a great material for a MadTV skit ..This is not a black comedy, this is a black blotch on the book of black comedy.Sometimes when I watch a movie like this, I wonder what were the director or script-writer thinking. It looked like they forget about real life and it was highly possible that someone would ask about the whereabouts of the deceased stripper. What about the hotel security guy, how absurd it is to assume that you can let him inside your room and then kill him and bury him and move on with your life as if nothing has happened because you made sure to cover your tracks by going to supermarket and pick up some cleaning detergents and walk down the aisle with disco music playing in the background ..the movie makers assumed that the weak plot can be drowned under the the screaming, the sound effects and absurd violent behaviour and they were rightly so given the reviews posted here.People, dark comedy must be intelligent , subtle and oh do I need to mention, funny?
I dot get why it got such a poor rating at IMDb. I saw the movie not knowing anything about it and i loved it, to say the least. Its a good cast first of all and the story is just great. The movie is a celebration of moments that will make you laugh and a second later think, what did i just see. Its spiraling out of control just as fast as it should to make all the sense it needs to. What starts off as a simple plan just cant stay that simple. Peter Berg did a great thing writing and directing the movie and make it a continuous flow of unexpected twists and turns that keep on surprising you. This a great movie i enjoyed very much and that i will recommend.
