Wow! Such a good movie.
Best movie of this year hands down!
Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
So I just finished watching this piece of garbage and it's bad. Really, really bad. However I watched this a group of friends and we haven't laughed this much in a while. Every time a scene with those bird things showed up or one of the small troll things were snatched everybody laughed until they cried. We couldn't finish it though because the puppets were making us uncomfortable and honestly we don't need that in our lives.
This movie is weird as hell. The characters are heartfelt and the set is amazing. It will leave a mark on you. The crazy ass bird people(sic) are disgusting. The sound is right. All in all, its a weird and wild movie. It has some pretty standard themes but it presents them in a way that is different from most. I'd advise possibly using a light hallucination compound to ramp up the surreal effect.
Magical, yes, but this is an almost unrelievedly grotesque world which will both frighten or bore the kiddies for whom the film seems intended. For a starter, there is far too much dialogue – and most it is very insipidly or flatly delivered. In fact, the film seems to be nothing more than a self-indulgent exercise for actor-director- producer-writer Jim Henson. Unfortunately, Henson's direction, although helped out by Frank Oz, is rather flat-footed, and the pace is undeniably slow. Despite all its imaginative touches and ideas, the effect is rather grotesquely pedestrian. Fizzgig, the "dog", is undoubtedly the most lively character. All told, I thought the movie worth seeing, but more than somewhat disappointing.
he is the heart of this touching fantasy who reminds old truths, who redefine old values, who remains fascinating for the lovely manner to reinvent the laws of fairy tale in inspired manner. a film about friendship and courage and love and discover the other as part of yourself. nothing new. but magical presented. The Dark Crystal is the expression of a great artist genius. strange and beautiful. fascinating and old fashion using technology. a noble pledge for peace and self definition. not original but useful for the art to build a world who , remaining bizarre, is definitely charming. one of films of many childhoods. same strange and seductive at each new meeting. and good motif for remind Jim Henson and his profound personal perspective about fantasy.
