Watch Over Her Dead Body For Free

Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.

The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

... but you have to wonder about Paul Rudd's character, Henry. Henry is a veterinarian whose fiancée, Kate, dies on their wedding day in a freak accident involving an ice sculpture, partially caused by Kate's being argumentative.So a year later and Henry is still moping around. His sister plots to get psychic Ashley (Lake Bell) to read Kate's diary so she knows some authentic information about her so Ashley can convince Henry that she is authentic, and then send him a fake message from beyond that tells Henry that Kate wants him to move on with his life.But faking Kate's voice will not be necessary as her ghost is back on earth, after another argument in the afterlife causes the angel who is supposed to tell her why she is being sent back to earth just throws up her arms and walks out. So Kate's spirit is aimless on earth, other than knowing she does not like seeing Ashley and Henry together.The movie is largely predictable, but it is a nice relaxing watch if you just want to be entertained with something that does not involve violence or explicit sex scenes. It keeps things light.One more thing - getting back to Henry. Why is it he sees the crazy in all of the female cat owners he encounters at his vet practice, but doesn't see that Kate was an argumentative nightmare, his sister is manipulative enough to be willing to breach a sacred confidence, and Ashley has been involved in one long chronic lie? Or if he does see it, he is OK with all of that? It does seem that the movies like to paint men as jellyfish weaklings these days, but other than that I'd say this one is worth the watch but won't be remembered in the year 2050.

Over Her Dead Body wants to be an updated version of Topper but by making the ghost Kate (Eva Longoria) so unappealing and irritating, it damaged the premise of the film.Henry (Paul Rudd) is due to marry Kate his highly strung and bossy fiancé who dies on their wedding day when the ice sculpture falls on her.Death does not put a stop to her motor-mouth and bossiness where in the afterlife she is sent back to earth in spirit form but without any clear direction.In the meantime Henry who has been moping around for some time has been introduced to a psychic by his sister who is hoping that he will move on from Kate. The psychic Ashley (Lake Bell) becomes interested in Henry herself, however Kate for some reason thinks that it is her job to put an end to this budding relationship in the hope that this will get her to move on in the afterlife. Therefore she causes havoc for Ashley like getting her to run naked from the showers in a gym or trying to set her alight.Lake Bell showed charm with a flimsy script. Rudd was bland as the nice guy vet but is not stretched by the material. Longoria is just annoying. Bell and Jason Biggs try to get laughs from some slapstick but the script is an unfunny mess.

Kate (Eva Longoria) is a bossy annoying bride to Henry (Paul Rudd). On their wedding day, she gets crushed by an ice sculpture. It's one year later. Henry is depress. Kate is a ghost in limbo who doesn't know what to do. Henry's sister (Lindsay Sloane) forces him to go to psychic Ashley (Lake Bell). She gives Ashley Kate's diary so that Ashley can trick Henry to move on. Ashley does that and more. She falls for him.First, Eva Longoria is super annoying. I am not convinced that Paul Rudd and Longoria would ever make a viable couple. There is a real need to have Longoria show her love for Rudd more than a few times at the start of the movie. He would probably be miserable as Longoria's whipping boy.While I like Paul Rudd and Lake Bell separately and together, they don't strike me as the pratfall type. This is especially true for Lake Bell. I think their best moments are the snappy dialog. All the weird slapstick going on is out of touch. Jason Biggs lighting his arm on fire is just strange. There is a need to make a decision on what kind of movie this is. Is it a 3 Stooges' slapstick? Or is it a sweet rom-com? It's just a little too odd.

Jeff Lowell has written & directed 'Over Her Dead Body' poorly. The idea is first of all, is as stale as my jokes and the execution is just a cherry on the cake.Minus Eva Longoria Parker there is hardly anything appealing in this film. Eva looks great as ever and delivers a likable performance.Paul Rudd looks jaded and least interested. Lake Bell is a complete miscast. She looks manly and delivers a strictly average performance. Jason Biggs is wasted, so is Lindsay Sloane.I expected entertainment more from this film. Sadly, I didn't get entertained.
