Kill Me Three Times is off to a great start even during the opening credits. The music is catchy, the credits look amazing, and they don't take too long. And after the opening credits, the first lines are intriguing. All this ensures the viewer will stay to see what happens. The theme song of the movie that already catches your attention in the opening credits is used throughout the movie. This is also taking a huge risk, because you could overuse that too much. However, in this case, that track is simple enough to use several times. It's exciting and perfect for an action comedy. Reminds me of the theme of Men In Black. The story is funny (though the humour is dark), and it's just complex enough. Most of the complexity comes from non-chronological narrative. That's always risky, but when done right, it works, just like in this movie. The plot isn't just straight-forward and "as is", but James McFarland clearly did not try too hard to write some kind of artistic, complicated action thriller. The amount of complexity is just right when it comes to action comedy. You can be clever in other ways when writing a movie like this, mostly by plot twists that the audience cannot see miles away. Kill Me Three Times succeeds in that. However when it comes to the plot twists it feels like maybe this movie won't be as great when you see it the second time. It feels like while the movie is very charming and somewhat unique and funny, it's not as clever as you'd like, or as thrilling. But can I be sure before I actually rewatch it?

I dished out cash on pay per view for this very mediocre product. The only real highlight is a smug and self-assured Simon Pegg, who does not mind having the camera on him and rewards the viewer with a memorable hit man incarnation. The love triangle story is badly copied from countless films that came before and did this better. It's full of clichés and lacks any colorful detail that might be conveniently provided by the nice backdrop, i.e. an incredibly beautiful Australian beach. The direction only adds to the misery. There are many lengthy and boring episodes where A is driving to B, B to C, back to A, etc. The stretches of highway used are average and so you're basically waiting for someone to drive to a destination for the action to continue, a LOT.Apart from Pegg, most of the actors are a bit like used cars. Not bad, but they have seen their prime and their acting is not making up for it.A missed chance.

No, really. Simon Pegg as a hit-man - Charles Wolfe. It's kind of a light Aussie-American Tarantino film mash up. Think Reservoir Dogs meets Hot Fuzz, but not really. Other reviews are so-so, me personally? I dug it. I was tinkering with some PC's with this on in the background and then it turned into me watching this and occasionally playing with the PCs. Not bad. It has a slightly over saturated visual style mainly in all the outside establishing shots. The soundtrack wasn't intrusive nor very memorable. If you watch the first seven minutes or so, you pretty much have the tone of the film. There's some good surprises and decent black humor. Not sure if we'll see a John Wick/Charlie Wolfe team-up anytime soon - but that would be awesome. It's good to see Bryan Brown in a movie, it's been a while since I've seen him.

I knew going into Kill Me Three Times that the movie had an abysmal rating of just 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I figured Simon Pegg could have been the saving grace of the movie. But it turns out I was wrong, Pegg wasn't used nearly enough just like most people said. And while the scenes he was actually in were the highlight of the movie, there weren't enough of them and they didn't give him room to actually flourish. It was nice seeing Pegg playing a different character (a villain of sorts) but this unusual role couldn't save this mess. The problem is everything here is just not up to snuff, it seems to be going through the motions. The humor is hardly even mentionable, the characters are completely unlikeable (also uninteresting), and the story derivative. We see the events of a 'hit' gone wrong and the events that play out through multiple perspectives over the course of the movie. It sounds semi-interesting but it is more tedious than engaging. The problem is none of the characters are interesting in the least and certainly not nearly as funny as the movie wants to be. You eventually come to the realization that they are all going to cross paths sooner or later and their motives come forth, so you're just forced to sit back and wait for those moments to come along. And when all is said and done, the movie's story ends just as you would expect it to (the final image is actually mildly humorous).Even if you are a huge Simon Pegg fan just like me, this is something you absolutely do not need to see. You might be thinking that he can save any movie he is in, sadly that is just not true in the slightest. Kill Me Three Times is one of the worst movies of the year.
