Wolf
Aging publisher Will Randall is at the end of his rope when a younger co-worker snatches his job out from under his nose. But after being bitten by a wolf, Will suddenly finds himself full of youthful vigor. As he struggles to regain his position, he becomes enthralled with Laura Alden, his former boss's daughter. And, as increasingly animal-like urges begin to overwhelm him, Randall worries that he may be turning into the creature that bit him.

One of my all time favorites.
I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Fantastic!
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Wolf starring Jack Nicholson is a good movie and contains some pretty awesome sequences. It is quite visceral, and the pacing is good. Nicholson is his usual and pretty Michelle Pfieffer can also deliver her lines rather well. Mike Nichols takes a detour from the kind of films he usually makes and this one is special for it. This is quite different from An American werewolf in Paris and the likes. I wouldn't call Wolf underrated but it is a rather unseen film and many people haven't even heard of it.
Wolf had every chance to be a great movie. It certainly had the talent and a potentially great story line. Will Randall (Jack Nicholson) is an aging Editor for a publishing company who loses his job and his wife to a creepy co-worker Stewart (James Spader). Bitten by a Ware Wolf, Will gets smarter, has more hair and starts to go out at night and kill things. Unfortunately, when Will finds out about his wife and Stewart, he confronts them and bites Stewart. So now he will eventually have to have a Wolf fight with Stewart which he does. He meets Laura Alden (Michelle Pfeifer), his boss's daughter and we know where that's going. There are some really silly wolf scenes with Jack jumping around and sniffing the air with a set of wolf fangs in his mouth. The wolf that bit him and his pack are all mechanical dolls and are just terrible. I watched it to the end but only because Jack is in it.
Wolf is not your average run of the mill movies concerning werewolves. The movie is reminiscent of the old Lon Chaney, Jr. film 'The Wolf Man (1941)' yet two stories are nothing alike. 'Wolf' is a unique kind of wolf-man film. It's nothing like 'American Werewolf in London' nor is it like the movie 'Bad Moon'. Wolf is a one of a kind werewolf movie that you would have to watch in order to get the full grasp of it's unique style and story.I love this movie - it is one of the best werewolf movies I have ever seen. And it is one of best movies that Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer has ever made - in my opinion. Both film stars are outstanding in this film. 'Wolf' is better than the comedy-drama 'The Witches of Eastwick' (which stars both Nicholson and Pfeiffer). - and I enjoyed WoE too. This is such an underrated but good werewolf film. 8.5/10
This is not your typical werewolf flick, where out of luck publisher Will Randall (Jack Nicholson) has to deal with younger co-worker Stewart Swinton (James Spader), who snatches away both his job and wife. However, Will's energy and senses become stronger after being bit by a wolf. More than just a story about a human turning into a monster, the plot deals with the competition between Stewart and Will and the unlikely romance between Will and his boss' daughter, Laura Alden (Michelle Pfieffer), which gives this horror film a more unique story. The acting was good, especially the spellbinding Michelle Pfieffer and the calm yet cunning Jack Nicholson. Sound of Music star Christopher Plummer gave a nice co-star appearance. But, while the film's momentum goes fairly quickly, I thought the film lacks humor and overall charm, and I didn't find the overall horror elements of the film riveting. The drama of the film is good, but the horror doesn't quite grab your attention as other more conventional horror movies do.Grade C
