Truly Dreadful Film

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

While this film came out in 2013, I just saw it in 2018 so yeah, I am really late to the game. This film had some great things going for it. For example, I loved the plot. It was a really cute storyline. It also had fabulous acting in Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman. What I did not like about this film was all the unnecessary "F" bombs and a handful of sexual innuendoes. Literally, there was no need for them but I am a big girl and have heard it many times before. The only thing that just about made me turn it off was the taking of the Lord's name in vain. As a Christian, this is so hard for me to swallow. There is absolutely never a good reason to take the Lord's name in vain, especially in a film. I cringed every time I heard it and think I heard it about three times. But it was three times too many. However, because I had wanted to see this film for so long, and because I bought it on DVD, I decided to see it through. At about the 45 minute mark the two leads are in a bar and Melissa McCarthy's character began to act inappropriately. The next thing I know there is a motel scene in which she brings another man into the room and there is a disgusting sex scene. It was absolutely horrible & vulgar and I could not wait until the scene was over. But once I got through the first hour, the film took a turn for the better. The "F" bombs still flew, but the story began to turn and I could tell this character "Diana" was not as bad as she seemed. The film had great production value and great DP work. The editing was also top notch. But what I liked most was the acting from Jason and Melissa as well as the plot. By the last five minutes of this film, I knew I was going to cry, and when a movie makes me cry it is a winner in my book. I love for my emotions to be stirred. Because I am a Christian, someone told me I would absolutely hate this film, but I had already purchased the DVD, so I thought I would see it through. He asked me why I didn't read the reviews and the parental warnings before I bought it. Honestly, I had never thought of it. I watched the trailer and was hooked and wanted to see it because it looked very funny. My friend was wrong, I didn't hate it. While I didn't like the a lot of the dialogue in the script, I loved the story and the chemistry between Jason and Melissa was fantastic. Next up, I'll be watching "Tammy" which also stars Melissa McCarthy. There must be a reason why she is rated 27 on IMDb right now.

I know films can take liberties with the real world, however this was just stupid. The whole basis of this film is cringe worthy. It wasn't funny, it was predictable and worst still was the story line. I am now dumber from watching this. Someone steals somebodies identity which is a federal crime, and somehow the police can't do anything about it............. yeah coz that makes sense

In all fairness the subject of identity fraud is very hard to make funny for a films plot, its a very sad and worrying problem that we all hope and try to avoid falling victim to,yet careful people still do. The film starts off okay there's a good build up of the man Sandys character and you straight away connect with him and sympathise with what his going through. But where the film goes wrong for me is when he meets up with the woman who has been defrauding him,the film then becomes so unrealistic and cringy. This woman has been ruining his life and has cost him even more money trying to find her,yet he tries to reason with her saying that he wont press further charges on her if she just admits that she has stolen his identity Hmmm ????? The film also relies heavily on this woman Diana for comedy effect which just doesn't work as her character is far too vulgar and 100% despicable to be funny,in fact i was disappointed that the assassins didn't catch and dispose of her.She was that bad Also the scene where she was having sex in the motel with the tycoon she picked up was just nauseating ,and done to the effect that it is good comedy to see and hear to obese people having sex.Really? This film just got more and more cringy by the minute ,i could go on but why bother ,just don't waste your time and avoid this film at all costs

There is this thing that has to be taken into consideration when watching a movie. It's called "suspension of disbelief". This means that you have to accept some plot holes or scenes that are not very believable. "Suspension of disbelief" is completely impossible in this movie, because there is just no way to accept that none of the other characters grows a slightest hint of backbone and puts a bullet square between the eyes of Melissa McCarthy's extremely annoying and obnoxious character. The entertainment value of this pile of dung is pretty much zero. Disgusting.Every scene with her is mind-numbingly stupid and disgustingly unfunny. Oh, and this goes for ALL her movies.I have worked through IMDb and EVERY movie that has McCarthy in it, gets ONE STAR from me.
