Simply A Masterpiece
This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Blue Ruin is easily one of my favorite movies. I'm a huge revenge/thriller movie fan and Blue Ruin exceeded my expectations. Excellent story and acting is very well done. If you're looking for a thrilling movie with great action and revenge give it a shot. Movies like these don't get the credit they deserve!
A unique take on the "revenge" thriller. A very nicely done slow burn of a flick. It's very gripping and pulls you into the story with a normal every day guy who's life gets turned upside down and the lengths he'll go to to avenge and protect his family. This is an interesting and realistic film that builds to an exciting climax that is well worth your time.
Just slowly burning from tip to end, the fire moves from one end to another. The movement is slow, but there is fire. The realistic, morbid scenes had so much depth in it, it felt like watching a documentary. I don't feel like typing too much right now after the movie, but all I have to say is that its absence of Hollywood is what makes this movie. In a year like 2017 where all movies are so focused on actors and fancy pictures, this movie brought me back to a cradle. Great acting. Great setting. Simple plot, yet so much thinking. Silent cuts, yet the breeze so noisy. It is worth watching.I just have one question. (Spoiler alert?)Why didn't the kid just shoot Dwight to death, instead of leaving him live enough to kill his other family members?9/10
Blue RuinLow budget, but carefully made.Starting off well, tense and terse. But petered out because of mediocre acting and dialogue. IMHO, a stronger portrait of Dwight was necessary to draw the audience into the story. The story lacked depth because there was no flash back to provide emotional intensity. No back story about the McCoy and Hatfields. Why should we care about the protagonist? Ended in a sad bloody confrontation. The film makers have potential. Hope that the next one is much better.
