Did you people see the same film I saw?
best movie i've ever seen.
The acting in this movie is really good.
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
I'm purely reviewing the film because this needs to be stated and completely understood. I don't care that the animals involved are mostly animated, but it is absolutely horrifying for me, as an experienced guinea-pig owner, to witness such lifelike cavies being treated as they were from the pet store scenes onwards, and I've now had to stop the film just after the little girl dressing up the (LONE) female she bought, because I'm sickened and upset by it. I had put off until tonight to watch it, just because I wanted to watch something different and give it a go (and Disney films are amongst my favourite, along with other animated films which feature animals, so don't assume I'm not familiar with such works). I can look past the 'hamster X ferret' thing, because it's just something light-hearted and funny, but in no way was it necessary to display the guinea-pigs in a TANK, WITH the hamster (the species' should not mix as their diets are very different), and then show a guinea-pig using a large wheel which they should never use in real life because their spines DO NOT curve inwards like a hamster or rat's as efficiently to allow them to run in a wheel. I was disgusted by the 'scruffy' guinea-pig being thrown across the pet store, intended to be eaten by the snake - do the film-makers have ANY idea how much of a reality that is for some guinea-pigs, that pet stores sell a lot of guinea-pigs unknowingly to sick-minded snake owners who insist of feeding their snakes live mammals?! It's completely barbaric that scene! Nevermind the fact that the little girl chose the sow guinea- pig to dress her up, put make-up on her and treat her like a doll!Like I said, I stopped it there and I no longer wish to watch any more of it. I'm only angry about this because it wasn't a cartoon, so it doesn't assume any sense of it being real. It was depicting reality and trying to get it accurately enough with the design of the animated animals being so fantastic - sadly, that's the only positive I can give this film. The story itself, however, I was utterly bored with anyway.
A good children's movie would be fast moving, with an engrossing story, interesting characters, great animation or effects, and some plot points/one-liners/devices aimed at the parents with "a nudge and a wink".G-Force is fast moving, but the rest of my criteria? Strikes out on all accounts despite trying very hard. It's guinea pig characters are caricatures - the 'street-wise' homeboy voiced by Tracy Morgan, the alluring, mysterious femme fatale voiced by Penelope Cruz, and "Darwin" the all-American hero (in guinea pig form). Throw in all the stereotypical sidekicks and there you have it.The story involves appliances going rogue and destroying the world. The only ones who discovered the plan are the guinea pigs and they spend the rest of the movie proving their worth vs the human FBI agents and the bad guys. The 'adult' humour was dialed way too low to teen level. Hearing a guinea pig say "Shizzle" does not amount to comedy for most adults. The kids probably won't get it either. So who is that for? The pre-teens who'll be avoiding this movie like the plague? Big miss.5/10 for trying so hard.
G-Force was not quite my kind of movie. I watched it because I was babysitting, and the kids wanted to watch this movie, they thought it was a lot of fun.G-Force is about a bunch of guinea pigs who are specially trained to stop a billionaire from taking over the World. That's the whole story, nothing more. There are some funny scenes and I was actually impressed by the animations and special effects, it wasn't all that bad. It is just a shame that the special effects were dimmed down by all the all too silly scenes. The guinea pigs were very cute and fun, and the movie has a lot of action scenes. This movie is great for children's entertainment, children will surely find this movie to be a lot of fun.
I guess I'm going a little too easy on it. I'll just pick it apart... I don't know about other viewers, but I never felt connected or felt anything for the characters. You never really got to know them good enough, but also, they were obvious personalities. When Speckles apparently "died", I honestly felt nothing. To be completely honest, I thought, "Okay." The acting was terrible. The voice over was...eh. I was majorly disappointed in Ben. He had no major part in the movie, but when he did, his character was dull and pointless. I will say that I was impressed with Speckles. I had no idea it was voiced as Nicholas Cage until I saw the reviews. The plot was okay. I know it is for a younger audience, but this is basically what the movie is about: Three guinea pigs who are specially trained as secret agents are fighting to save the world from a man planning to take over the world with coffee machines and other small machines... I think you understand that it is a pretty disappointing plot, and it is extremely obvious. Entertaining for kids, but just sad and pointless for the older audience. The "twist" at the end isn't surprising and doesn't effect you in any way. It turns out that Speckles is the mastermind behind everything, but after a minute of "No, Speckles! We are your family!" bit, he suddenly regrets his actions. The ending, which was supposed to be moving, was extremely embarrassing. It was rushed, and just strange when Kip is sent to Antarctica. To be nice, I will say that in can be entertaining, and has its moments, but overall is just really disappointing. I feel bad for the people who wasted $10+ to see this. It can be good for kids, and the animation is decent, but this is the kind of movie where you see it once, and never want to see it again. 5/10.
