The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

So, Johnny Cash. A man in black, a man with a guitar, a man-legend, a man ... He is real in any of his hypostases. Speaking at a concert, composing music, loving. A man who has flown to the top, a man fallen from this peak - his life passes before us and it becomes clear that only a special person can fall so low and rise again high. The love story of Cash and Carter is shown very touchingly. Joaquin Phoenix did not just perfectly play his part. He lived on the screen, lived the life of Johnny Cash. The same gloomy look, the same half-smile, the same magnetism, the same deeply hidden vulnerability. But Reese Witherspoon from Joaquin is not far behind. Firstly, she has a great voice, and secondly, the atmosphere of the 50's is surprisingly amazing to the actress. Her June Carter is loving and understanding, but at the same time she knows how to be tough. She became known much earlier than Cache, so the life of the star is uninteresting to her. Still, some directors and writers have a love for embellishing reality, drawing facts behind their ears and seeking Oscar. But fortunately, there are exceptions. "Walk the Line" was just such an exception. Thanks to the film, I recognized Cash. Let not the present, but nevertheless. Acquainted with his life, saw the world 50's-60's. I saw one of the most beautiful love stories.

Walk the Line is a 2005 American biographical drama film directed by James Mangold. The screenplay, written by Mangold and Gill Dennis, is based on two autobiographies authored by singer-songwriter Johnny Cash. The film follows Cash's early life, his romance with June Carter, and his ascent to the country music scene. It stars Joaquin Phoenix as Cash, Reese Witherspoon as Carter, Ginnifer Goodwin as Vivian Liberto, and Robert Patrick as Cash's father. The film was nominated for five Oscars at the 78th Academy Awards, including Best Actor (Phoenix), Best Actress (Witherspoon, which she won), and Best Costume Design (Arianne Phillips). The film grossed more than $186 million worldwide. I knew a lot about Johnny Cash before watching the movie. It was really helpful. A very famous musician and singer of the second half of the XX century played a key role in the development of music. That is why I was impressed by the Phoenix's acting. For those who knew Johnny Cash before it was the great impersonation. Joaquin Phoenix performs songs himself. These songs were like Cash's performance. Manners, gestures, movements, a reprimand, a smile, and even the way he holds the guitar in his hands are like a reflection in the mirror of Cache. But what really surprised me was that he did not get an Oscar for this movie. As for Reese Witherspoon, I absolutely do not like her as an actress. I cannot understand her absolutely. But nevertheless she looked quite believable. But the reason for what she was given an Oscar does not clear for me. In generally I saw the film with pleasure. It is simple, but at the same time is quite cute. Music which were played during the movie immersed in the life of that musical era. In addition, I was very pleased with the accuracy of the plot to the very biography of the singer. It is noteworthy that I watched it on February 26, the birthday of the singer. There was some magic in this fact. In general, the movie is very good. 8/10

Walk the Line is a 2005 American biographical drama directed by James Mangold. The screenplay, written by Mangold and Gill Dennis, is based on two autobiographies authored by singer-songwriter Johnny Cash-Man in Black: His Own Story in His Own Words and Cash: The Autobiography. Traumatised by the death of his brother as a child and scorned by his father, Cash leaves Arkansas to serve in the US Air Force in Germany, where he starts to write songs. Although reaching a high point in his career touring alongside Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis, he descends into drink and drug addiction, while fellow singer and future wife June Carter seems to be the only person standing between him and self-destruction. With Joaquin Phoenix and an Oscar-winning Reese Witherspoon. I liked this film but I still cannot spot the main theme of the story.I think there are several of them such as love, difficult childhood , taking drugs and so on...It is very bright and vibrant thanks to awesome actors' outfits and wonderful music. Such films are always interesting to watch and learn about the lives of famous people. People who influenced the history of music and the lives of many people. To sum it up, I can say that the film "Walk the Line" is an excellent biography of a famous person, and even those who do not know him, I advise you to watch this film, because it's interesting and informative. And the movie itself will bring a great mood and pleasure while watching . Definately I recommend it

I don't usually watch biographical films but this one about a country music icon, Johnny Cash, is really worth seeing. Walk the Line follows Cash's early life, his ascent to the musical Olympus and relationship with June Carter, his second wife. Although the film is two and a half hours long, I watched it in one breath from the beginning till the end. The reason for that, I think, lies in the fact that in Walk the Line there is everything I need in a movie. First of all, there is drama. The brother's death, the abusive father, drug addiction - although these are sad and unpleasant moments in Johnny's biography, it is they that finally bring him to the place he belongs to and to the person he belongs with. Then there is music. As I listened to the songs performed in this film I forgot about all the dramatic moments, problems and difficulties that Johnny and June faced. I'm not a fan of country music but I couldn't prevent myself from tapping my feet to the music or singing along. I enjoyed it so much! And, of course, there is romance and love. Love that has to overcome many obstacles to finally have the right for a 'happily ever after'. This love story was especially interesting to watch because it was real. The director, the scriptwriters, the costume designers and all the talented people, who went out of their way to tell Johnny and June's story and allow us to become a part of it, deserve high praise and recognition. As for Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, I have only one word to say: PERFECT. PERFECT chemistry between the two, PERFECT... I would write acting but they didn't act, they LIVED. For me Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon didn't PORTRAY Johnny and June, they WERE Johnny and June. They felt just like Johnny and June did, they thought just like Johnny and June did, they loved just like Johnny and June did. Outstanding! No more words are needed. So, do I regret watching this film? Not for a second. Would I recommend it to other people? Absolutely. Why? Because Walk the Line proves that the best stories, the stories that are worth telling, come from real life.
