Touches You
If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
The. Worst. This movie is terrible. Do not watch it. Ever.So bad.
Obviously this is not an award winning movie, however it's not as bad as everyone says. There is one major point at the 40 minute mark that they could've made a correction on. Once they get the keys to the truck, the driver did not have to drive crazy and crash the truck. She simply could've drove it back onto the road and made it to safety. So from that point on the movie is excessively extended for no reason. There's a story around some poachers was just completely disconnected, and makes no sense at all. Acting not half bad. Scenes of Africa are pretty good.
I have nothing to say about this movie other than IMDb needs to add the negative star option to its ratings scale. It seriously pained me to give this movie a star. Whoever read this screenplay and thought it'd make a good movie needs to be strung up by his/her feet in downtown Los Angeles. They should be made to hover above a pit of lions that have been deprived of meat for weeks. Someone should video the whole process, upload it to their iMovie, drop in a title/credits, and put it on Youtube so everyone out there that was tricked into watching this movie can really take pleasure in wasting a few hours of their lives watching humans being tortured by lions.
If you are a horror film buff, from the reviews I've read so far, don't watch this as it has no chain saws, or over the top craziness. This is a beautifully shot film, with characters that are portrayed so well, that you will most likely hate them by the end of the movie. To me, one definition of good acting is that it makes you feel something about the character either good or bad.I thought the animal scenes were very well done, without being overly gory to the point where you are no longer disgusted, like most modern horror films--SAW--ahem. I could feel the fear that characters felt and understand that when you are under extreme stress and ignorant of what to do for the most part, you end up doing very stupid things. For example, people whose cars accelerators stick and instead of putting the car in neutral and coasting to the side of the road they panic break and go off the cliff.About the divorced family drama--divorce is very traumatic for kids and many kids don't like their step-parents, initially anyway, so even though this is formulaic it is real and sets the stage for a lot of the decisions that are made.I've watched this film 3 times and I probably will watch it again (with my kids when they're a little older). The ending is probably the only part that I was disappointed with but I can overlook it for the quality of the remainder.
