You won't be disappointed!
Lack of good storyline.
If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
Brilliant and touching
If I should compare it to another movie... the first choice would be "Brokeback Mountain". Not as much in the story itself, as in the depth of the emotion it conveys. For a decade I was refusing to watch the movie about homosexuals, and when I finally saw it I rated it 10/10. This is the similar case. When people hear what it's about prejudices make them avoid it, but this disgust on such topics is quite hypocritical. None of us is without sin, and this film is superb.8/10
When bad Aussie drama meets Ingmar Bergman, you have Adore. Two lifelong friends decide to sleep with each other sons for what reason? I don't know. With nary a hint of regret or conflict, these affairs go on with the redundancy of food prep. Coming from the writer of Dangerous Liaisons, Christopher Hampton, one feels his heart is not in this exercise. Watch Damage with Jeremy Irons to see this notion better realized.
Never in my life have I ever watched such a cringe worthy 'film'. From the cheap dialogue, to the ridiculous plot that seems to have been written by a 15 year old teenager, this so called 'motion picture' is just pathetic. The acting was similar to that of a porn intro. The plot was not realistic at all and honestly quite disturbing... this story could have been told in 10 million different ways that could have made it better. Instead, it's just a slightly disturbing porno about -------------*spoiler alert*-----------two moms who fall in love with each other's sons and ARE OKAY WITH IT and KEEP THE RELATIONSHIPS GOING. ---------------------------------------I don't know whether the director was trying to be realistic or not, but if she was, this is a MASSIVE failure. The dialogue, the characters *who spends that much time with their mom when they're in their 20s??*, the whole world of this movie is just BIZARRE. It honestly feels like watching an adaption of a badly written fanfic with just as cheesy and ridiculous dialogue and storyline... PLS
I wondered if this would be a women's movie, in a bad way. My admiration for Naomi Watts and Robin Wright drew me to it. I'm glad. The beauty of the film is notable. I have seldom seen Australia filmed this well. It is a basic element in the film's atmosphere and poignancy. The free ocean. The solid rough raft. The hedonistic sunshine. The view from above it all. Fantastic. The beauty of the cast is also remarkable. Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville are models of young athletic maleness. Watts and Wright are models of women at their height of mature beauty.Exposure of the mutual attraction of the beautiful to each other lies at the heart of the film. The undercurrents of homosexual attractions are handled with exquisite subtlety. The juxtaposition of sexual passion among familiars with stale conventional relationships between relative strangers is affectively painful. The hybrid of French and Australian production is a great success. The best of both worlds. Worth every minute of its suspense, heartbreak and provocation of deep thought about taboo subjects.
