I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Touches You
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
When I started watching I assumed this movies is just gonna be a regular Gay movie. Still I watched thinking at last I will get something for my time I am spending. The script was written amazingly and the acting of all the actors. Specially I never expected such damn best act from Matt Bomer. That was great and would have been awarded. This is very hypocritical, in our society where I am from is still a Gay relationships are unaccounted. Though the world is far move forward with Technology, science and Healthcare, they still not willing to understand being gay is not an abnormality or disease. They have still not recognised as a government the Gay sexuality is a natural process and they should receive equal rights. Unfortunately, this makes people more unaware that having unsafe sex can course for a illness or viral disease. When people weren't accepted by the society, they are willing to satisfy their sexual requirements hidden where very unsafe. This course more dangerous than accepting Gays are normal. If all the Gays can live a normal life, they will find a permanent life partner who will not sleep around. This movie is one of the great movies I watched so far which explains importance of understanding the different cultures and accepting people with equal rights. Thanks to the producers, directors and all the actors who gifted us such brave movie to watch.
I have loved Ryan Murphy's Glee since it first started and ended but I just think this was a little too overrated of the work he has ever done. Before you think I'm homophobic from not liking this film then you are very wrong, I accept all sexualities gay, straight, bi, trans, alien whatever. Its just I think Murphy is trying to compare this to "Long Time Companion" then be original. I found it wasn't his original outline of this movie and like it maybe wasn't a good idea either to have many well-known stars on this. Although I do appreciate Matt Bomer, Jim Parsons, Julia Roberts, Alfred Molina and Jonathan Groff as great actors but I'm afraid this isn't one of the best works they acted in.I'm really dissapointed that I didn't find this enjoyable to watch, I am really interested in what history taught us and the fact how aids back then, wasn't treatable as it is now. It's just a pity that this film didn't captivate and made me be interested in it. I'm going to have to say, I give this a 3/10..
Firstly, I want to talk about the haters. I read most of your reviews and I conclude that none of you have the intelligence to understand a film with this subject matter. One reviewer even went so far to say that Jim Parsons can't give a good performance in a drama because he can't show emotion. I think you need to not compare other roles he acts to Sheldon Cooper. The only reason I found this film is because I wanted to see Jim in a role other than Sheldon. I looked up his filmography and picked this one. I thought Jim was very good. He plays a character that clearly doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve because too many of his friends die. If he did, it would drive him crazy. His scene at the end though, blatantly shows that he's full of emotion and sentiment. I found his role quite touching. As for the film in general, great performances from many of the cast, excellent script and an emotional true to life story make this film a must see.Fantastic for a TV movie 9/10.Peace & Love xxx
While watching this movie, one word kept lingering in my mind over and over again---"Helpless". Why should all these happened? Why them? The story traces back to late last century, about 1980s',when the homosexual relationship was just accepted by the society,an unknown disease spread among young people in New York, mostly gays. At first,it didn't draw much attention from their own,but as people who got this disease kept dying ,the little "problem" turned to a plague. It was contagious and would cause a total paralysis in human's immune system, once you got this, there was nothing between you and death. It was only a question of time. The group of homo got panic, they didn't know what they should do.They turned to government for help, but all they got in return was endless delay and reply of "no",all their proposal of medical help and research funding were objected. The leading role in this movie named Ned,who was a writer also as a homo guy, decided to fight back,he founded the G.M.H.C(Gay man's health crisis)to help the patient,to raise more money for finding the cure of this horrible disease. He fought against government every single day calling for the attention from the powers. But they never took it seriously, they chose to ignore it intentionally.Ned watched his friends died one by one.Even his own partner, the true love of his life was struck down by this disease too.He did all his best to hold him back but in vain eventually.until 2 years later,President Reagon mentioned the AIDS publicly for the first time, made the AIDS research a "top priority".But it was too late for Ned,as well as too many young men whose life had been taken. Why did all the tragedy have to happen? Why didn't the society do something beforehand? The answer is very simple in deed.In a funeral of Ned's friend, there was such a speech "I keep screaming inside, why are they letting us die?and here is the truth, they just don't like us".I can't help recalling one of my favorite movie"A single man"(also referred to homosexuality). It says there is no hate without a cause, the cause is fear.People always fear things which they don't understand, people who are different from themselves,we may say as"minority",that fear is why the minority is persecuted. But minority is just people, people like us.It's so unfair to treat them differently.Don't they deserve our respect?Or don't they even deserve to live on?Being minority is hard, they must be strong enough to care less about other's opinion, but in their deep heart all they want is to be accepted by others,to be treated like normal people. After all,no one is actually same as anyone else, everyone is "minority".So is there any decent reason that we despite ourselves?
