This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
The first must-see film of the year.
It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
The movie really just wants to entertain people.
A Childhood Favorite That Over Time Has Proven To "Stay Gold".
I read this book in high school and watched the movie many years ago. I watched it again this past weekend for the fun of it. Overall a pretty good movie and it's really cool to see all of those young, soon to be Hollywood heavyweights in one of their very first, if not first movie role. The very worst part of this movie - the soundtrack. The music is absolutely horrendous. Francis Ford Coppola hired his father Carmine to compose the score and it is just awful. During dramatic moments in the movie, the music sounds like something you would hear in a kindergarten class - lighthearted, more like a carnival ride than a death scene.Other than the terrible music, still a very watchable movie.
Many characters from beginning of the movie and there's no proper introduction to them. I think book readers should enjoy this movie, but if you didn't read the book then there's just no proper familiarization with the events. Also Tom Cruise does not have a big role here and is just like 5 minutes throughout this 2 hour movie. This movie is about 2 gangs who are rivals and looks quite realistic. There are a few interesting moments here - 1 - first fight between gangs, where one of the main characters kills an enemy, 2 - fire in the church, 3 - big fight between gangs. **Spoilers** There are also different scenes, which show that some of the gang members don't really want to fight and are against violence, while others are hyped by the upcoming fight, which is interesting. Also it shows 3 brothers who love and protect each other. **However, it is interesting that this movie has a really good video quality for 1983 movie. Almost like 2018 movies, so don't worry about that.
This movie is really part of the "Jocks Vs Greasers" franchise. It clearly states us on what it was like during the 1960s when poverty and rich didn't get on with each other. It reminds me of how Catholics and protestants didn't come to agreement with each other during the troubles in Northern Ireland. All of this fighting was just completely nonsense and pointless.I think it wasn't Johnny's fault for killing one of the socs because they really were crazy for trying to drown him. Jesus, all they cared about was the looks and not the personality! I would worry more of the personality then the looks. It was too bad Johnny died from burns trying to save the children in the old church building which was himself and ponies hideout. Why the hell were people there especially children? That gave me goosebumps and confusion! It didn't give us a chance to know what really happened! It was also too bad Dallas had to die from the police as he was going mental! It was pretty much the loss of Johnny that triggered him to become angry. I really thought Matt Dillon looked gorgeous during his youth, he looks so much like James Franco! Cherry probably should've taken him regardless if he was acting like a dope. However, he still was a cutie back then regardless hahaha! Good film but some scenes are tear jerking!
