A Masterpiece!
I saw Free Fall expecting to see something like Blue is the Warmest Color (2013), it wasn't so depressing and deep as that film but was a good surprise. In Free Fall we see a married "straight" police falling in love for another guy, unfortunately to complicate the things, his wife is pregnant. The film has a gay thematic but it's good to all audiences, there are a couple of sex scenes but nothing that will make someone feels shocked. Sex won't shock the homophobic audience, they will get shocked with the chemistry between the two main characters, that couple looks real, I thought a lot of times "okay, the producers chosen a gay couple to star this film".If you're thinking this is a romantic story full of cute moments, I should say you will get disappointed because Free Fall is a movie about life, there are enough happy scenes and sad moments that make us feel we are watching a real story. By the way, there are some good sequences about homophobia, where we see how the homophobic people are stupid and they worry a lot with the happiness of the another persons. It's not so deep like Blue is the Warmest Color and it's VERY FAR to be a romantic film, however is a great movie. It doesn't matter if you're straight, bisexual or gay, watch it if you want to know how a real life relationship works.Rate: 9/10
I have nothing new to add to the many eloquent reviews that have been posted here. I just watched this on Netflix and wanted to agree with the other reviews. This is a well scripted and well acted movie with very believable characters. Due to the subject matter it's not going to appeal to everyone, but it really is worth a watch.Superb performances by the two main characters. You empathize with the situation they find themselves in. You know it's not going to be a happily-ever-after ending - there's gonna be some heartbreak. Well directed too.I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good drama. There are plenty of erotic man-on-man scenes which might make some people uncomfortable, but times have got better - it shouldn't offend most people. And those scenes aren't played for sexual arousal (although it does have that effect!!!), they are there to show you that homosexual acts are just as natural as anybody else's sexual acts. The movie doesn't disappoint and I have no hesitation in giving it an eight star rating.
Very beautiful film , the story of two policemen who share the same room in the barracks and that friends become lovers . At first It may seem like the current version of Brokeback Mountain ( set however in the 60s ) , then it turns out that it is well away the love story of Ennis and Jack . Max here is happily married , is going to be a dad and he never thought of being gay , but life barracks changes things and passion spreads between the two protagonists . Romance troubled and hidden , which leads to consequences in Max's life is family and professional life . The film does not have a final true and own, in many hope in a second part so as to clarify the things .
I'm shattered in all the right ways by this film. First-class acting by the lead characters, brilliant story-writing (want to meet this screen/story writer!), outstanding directing, beautiful filming - I run out of adjectives with which to praise this film.People have compared it to "Brokeback Mountain", but I think that's a mistake. There is loss here, but there is also an enormous amount of growth. The symbolic use of our lead character's breathing challenges at the start of the film contrasted with his loose and easy breathing in the last scene is a perfect representation of the arc of the story. Loss, but clarity and wisdom as well in this film.I watch an enormous amount of gay film, and this ranks easily in the top five films I've ever, ever seen in this genre. And it would be unfair to limit this to a gay audience - like Brokeback (in this respect) it is a story for a much larger audience. Some great examination of relationship, self-honesty, the challenge of being attracted (or even in love) with more than one person - some wonderful themes in this movie.Must-see - end of story.
