The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

All that I knew about "Autopsy" when I sat down to watch it was that it was a horror movie and that it involved a hospital setting, and that was it. So it was my love for the horror genre that called me to the movie."Autopsy" is by no means a milestone in the horror genre in any possible way. In fact, it is a very mediocre and monotone movie. It is entertaining enough for what it turned out to be, just don't expect anything breathtaking or spectacular. The storyline is also a fairly generic one, revolving around the horrible and macabre events in an old hospital. Yep, it is one of those types of movies. So don't expect an innovating storyline. It should be said that the storyline is adequately paced, although it is very linear and generic, and thus also quite predictable. Now, the acting in the movie is adequate, taking into consideration what kind of movie it is, its budget and the genre. However, there were some casting choices which does raise some questions as to why they opted for those individuals. A matter of personal preference, of course. As for the horror factor of the movie, well it is a diminutive one at best. There are no shocks, no thrills, no scares and such throughout the course of the movie. Which left me with a very mediocre feeling once the movie had run its course and came to an end.If you enjoy horror movies that take place in a hospital setting, then there are some more impressive movies available, and so much more entertaining movies for sure. I managed to sit through "Autopsy" to the very end, but I can with all honesty say that this is not a movie that I will be watching a second time.

Alright, first there was Turistas (2006), Captifs (2010), The Harvest (1992), Coma (1978), Hospital Massacre (1982) and They Came From Within (1975). Way too many disturbing yet incredibly bad medical movies with the same elements and themes. Well, now here's this rather pathetic movie, Autopsy, with very little, if anything, to offer. The plot is typical of today's generation, a group of badly dressed girls and sleazy guys who talk about nothing but sex and booze end up crashing their car and hitting a guy in the road. Suddenly a very convenient ambulance arrives, taking everyone to a hospital supposedly shut down, where a 50's style nurse and creepy doctor along with goons who look as though they've just broke out of prison are all the staff. At first things seem normal enough... but then all hell breaks loose when the group begins to disappear to meet their horrible demises. So just what makes this film so bad? Well, I'll start with the acting. Not one character in the movie has much as far as a unique personality, in fact they're so generic that it's fake. They act like they just stepped out of a pornographic movie, making sex references, getting extremely drunk at a Marti Gras party in the intro and always swearing. It's to the point where it's very unrealistic and the acting itself is terrible. The special effects were really lame and the plot had too many flaws to make the film creepy. My advice, just watch this if you're bored or if you want to laugh at how pathetic it is. There are better films out there.

I just do not understand how on earth these people are given the budget to pull of these sort of movies with no backbone at all. I really thought it would be a good 1.5 hour of leisure on a scary movie but I was totally disappointed from the start to the end. Bunch of party animals have a crash in the middle of nowhere and they discover they actually have run over a man who sneaked out underneath the vehicle to grab one of the victims then everything picks up from that moment on. The ambulance arrives with two weird looking dudes taking the wounded person on the stretcher to embark him in the ambulance and thought nothing happened to the other people who actually ran over the guy are asked to get in the ambulance to have themselves checked at the hospital. The first thing I realized the ambulance was looking like one with the lights and stripes outside but when the door was opened it was nothing but the track to lay the gurney on. first off It is very unlikely for people to get in an ambulance with another patient who is in a critically bad condition second they would wait for cops to come and talk to them no matter what they are asked to do. When they are brought to the hospital they are welcomed by an odd nurse who is asking them to ''thoroughly fill out the forms'' which is nothing to do with the hospital's real concept second it was not done not to make the victims suspect of the hospital. It was just done to string the audience along with the movie. I was really trying to understand why the nurse was so high-strung all the time people were trying to speak with her and more oddly she had a very different accent than usual which did not really make the movie look scarier than it was. Apparently the sick doctor is trying to find the right bone marrow or the organ to heal his beloved wife who is as sick as the doctor actually is. They are bringing people in and kill them to see if these people's anatomies are compatible with the doctor's wife. There are some moments like the naked's man storming in the room and collapsing on her spewing all his organs on the lead girl's face and her storming out of the room and more oddly the sick nurse's punching her blood soaking face but his hand's not getting any blood off of the girl's face. Failures and omissions are countless. The lead girl(Emily)tries to find her boy friend in the hospital and sees Jude( another victim) ripping his own arm and asking him what he is doing and he goes he is trying to find something under his skin and also saying he was given a pill. Then Emily tells him to stop and put a cloth on his ripped arm and they get out of the room and magically Jude's arm is perfectly and professionally wrapped. I think I don't really need to describe how awful this movie is . It is as bad as Human Centipede 2 . Years fly by but bad scary movies are still spot-on .

Maybe the worst thing a horror film can do to a fan is bore the hell out of them. But that is exactly what Autopsy did to me and my fellow viewers during a recent screening.Autopsy, an entry in the After Dark Films series, begins with a group of students awaiting an ambulance after a car crash that has left a stranger dead under the vehicle. The students are taken to mercy Hospital which is run a small group of staff headed by Dr. David Benway (Terminator 2's Robert Patrick).Easily separated while awaiting minor treatment, the young stars (which include Jessica Lowndes, Ashley Schneider and Ross Kohn) soon find out that their health and safety is anything but assured while contained within the halls of the hospital. The first half of Autopsy was boring, predictable and lacking in any enjoyment whatsoever. Director Adam Gierasch brought nothing truly original to the screen and a contagious yawn could be heard throughout my screening group. But about half way through the film, it was as if Gierasch finally got it. He went from trying to establish mood and worthwhile characters to just having fun with the genre. There are more than a few wink wink nod nod type scenes in the second half that catapult Autopsy from a boring, meandering mess to a fairly watchable and at times enjoyable horror film. When you reach a fleeing female victim gets punched in the face by a sadistic intern, you know you have it the killerreviews turning point and that things will be more fanciful for the remainder of the film. The gore is definitely there. There is a scene with a naked man spewing his guts onto an ever-fighting female and the scene where we see a male victim with his guts hanging on strings and slings outside of his body was top rate.Autopsy then gets a mild recommendation based solely on the final 40 minutes. Robert Patrick is always a treat to watch and he is in full bad guy mode here (think Dr. Giggles except without the giggles). You won't care which of the young characters live or die or if any of them make it out alive for that matter. Maybe that's what made the second half so much fun. Once you stop thinking it a horror film and enjoy it as a black comedy with blood and body parts, the film takes flight.www.killerreviews.com
