Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Am i the only one who thinks........Average?
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
This film, would have to be about the most pretentious load of rubbish that I have seen all year. I'm not trying to put down the actors in this film, as they are all very good actors. But it astounds me, as to how these actors could have been in such a lousy film. The characters were extremely flawed and the film only seemed to improve when Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman made appearances. These sort of characters do work in films, (ie such as Rush Hour one and Two and shanghi Noon) but they just didn't go along well with the plot. The plot was also extremely flawed and it did jump around too much. All I can say about this film, was that it was painful to sit through and I would not recommend this film to anyone. The screenwriter did a thousand times better job on Gothika then on this film.
This video leaped off the shelves at the rental shop for one reason alone: Alan Rickman. I think he's a brilliant actor, and absolutely sensational in 'Dogma'.What a disappointment to get not only a hammed-up Nawleans accent from Rickman, but from Emma Thompson as well. At least Thompson's was much more believable. As for the film, well, it's all been done before and much, much better elsewhere.Don't waste your time with this light-weight addition to the genre. A time-filler at best.
After the release of Snake Eyes, every horny teenage boy ran out of the movie theaters wondering who that babe was in the film? Not many film buffs will recognize Carla Gugino in Snake Eyes. The reason for this is she looks nothing like she did when she starred in Son In Law with Paulie Shore. Today, Ms. Gugino is some of the best "Eye candy" on film today. Body language plus, Ms. Gugino is one of the biggest reasons why you should watch Judas Kiss. She makes the whole film worth watching...twice!
This film would like to be the kind of shocking, cerebral, and intense movie that many others in its genre have successfully been, but it's not. It is at best confusing and absurd. When the twists and turns finally revealed themselves, rather than saying "Ahh, I get it!" I muttered something along the lines of "Okay...whatever." In my opinion, when a movie reveals a major plot twist it shouldn't have to employ a flashback sequence to prove that it did give some hints that would enable the viewer to discern the truth himself. But this movie does have a flashback; and here's the kicker: it flashes back on scenes that weren't even in the movie! The characters were stereotypical, unsympathetic, and wholly ridiculous. I feel that the "steamy" love scenes between the romantic leads were the most untitillating and unsexy that I've ever scene in a movie that wasn't porn. It seems that the director was going for shocking and kinky with the love scenes, but they were really just plain silly. And don't EVEN get me started on the crappy accents and second-rate sets. I guess the movie was set in New Orleans, but Aside from the afore mentioned accents and a couple bland city shots the movie could have been in Anytown, USA.My recommendation: don't bother!
