It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

I already liked Alexis Bledel as Rory Gilmore, so I knew I would like her in this. And Lena was basically Rory, sweet and quiet, but with three best friends her own age, not a best friend for a mother. And blue collar grandparents who were good people if somewhat traditional and strict, rather than grandparents who would consider Lena's grandparents to be worthy only to do all the work they didn't want to do. The Romeo and Juliet romance was enjoyable and I liked Lena's boyfriend.America Ferrera made this movie before we all fell in love with Ugly Betty. And like so many of her characters, Carmen made us like her with a nice personality and a beautiful smile, and in this case a temper which was justified. I had forgotten how fat she used to be before she lost weight, but it didn't really matter. Until it became important the plot, and that was such a shame. I did like how she eventually resolved the problem.Amber Tamblyn had an edge that took some getting used to. I seem to recall her having a TV series I didn't watch. Later in the movie, she seems much more caring than she did to begin with.Blake Lively probably showed talent, but mostly she just looked amazing. That long blonde hair and all those scenes where she wasn't wearing a lot.I expected Ferrera to be the standout actor, but young Jenna Boyd was amazing. And what she did for Amber Tamblyn's character.Bradley Whitford I have seen in a number of roles. He was good here. A loving but clueless father who really tried.I know Nancy Travis mainly as the patient wife of Mike Baxter. She is nice here, but kind of shallow. It's quite an interesting set of stories linked by these miracle jeans.

This was a classic mid-2000s girl film. The actresses were really likable. It was like the 2000s version of the 80s-90s Babysitters' Club books. The friends were all a bit too different, but they were always there for each other. It was always fun to see Alexis Bledel, who played a Greek girl who didn't look Greek at all except for her dark-ish hair. She said she was super fair, too, and had to wear a lot of bronzer or self-tanner. I rooted for her and her pretty love interest. Beautiful shots of the dreamy Greek Islands, with the blue sea and white cliff houses. A really fun, sweet, and relaxing film to watch.

Tibby (Amber Tamblyn), Lena (Alexis Bledel), Carmen (America Ferrera), and Bridget (Blake Lively) are lifelong friends from birth. They find a second-hand pair of jeans that magically fit them all. They are separating for the summer but vows to stay connected by sharing the magic pants. Lena has a Greek holiday with her Greek relatives. Bridget misses her dead mom and is away at soccer camp. Carmen is meeting up with her dad (Bradley Whitford) but he surprises her with a wedding to girlfriend (Nancy Travis). Tibby is stuck working the summer and finds Bailey (Jenna Boyd) passed out in the aisle. The biggest fundamental problem for this movie is that the girls spend most of the movie apart. The point of these types of movies is for the group to develop chemistry together. This one assumes the chemistry and split the girls up. There is a reason why the best story is Tibby and Bailey. They are actually allowed to build up a relationship. Lena's story probably the weakest. It's way too light like a frivolous Greek holiday movie. The biggest asset in the movie are the four girls plus Jenna Boyd. They are all charming. They are all compelling actresses. Each one has something to contribute to the movie. The best scenes occur when the girls have a heart felt one on one. All in all, this is a sweet melodrama.

I had the fortune of watching the movie at home, this movie is embarrassing. The script is simple and predictable. The acting was extremely poor I guess that these actors will have a great future in the TV's soup operas. Apart from that, it is extremely cheap to use the clichés and topics of a romance in Greece, the cancer girl, the dead mother, the divorced parents... and everything for one purpose: tears... I am sorry, the effect in me was the opposite, and I just wanted to sleep... I hope that the books are better because the movie is terribly bad... I am surprised that in some of the reviews they actually tag the movie as "intelligent"... but WHAT? and WHO? the soccer girl?
