best movie i've ever seen.

Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

First of all my mind made up too many scenarios, like family members are full of barberians who were trying to some kind of hypnotical experiments or Alicia has a serious mentall illness but later than it all became make sense (which is too long for explain) and finally get involved with it. I've just loved the ending, mix with herbal tea, 15 valium and also unknown 3 pills of course she would have a fatal heart attack! Ending was all about traditional treatments againts modern treatments. In general this movie is just not for everyone so it doesn't make it boring. Great movie with disturbing scenes.

Love Horror movies...this wasn't one. Suspense, maybe. It was a slow start for me..Why did Sarah really hang back? Abortion? The puppy scene and parrot scene were overboard "gore"(?) Did the sister of Aug "over drug" Alicia? One other thing that puzzles me, the constant nightly sounds...bird or insect? why? was that making Alicia "MAD"? Why the mirror phobia? This movie left me with too many WHYS, and I don't like it! I want to understand the movies that I watch..or I end up feeling that I wasted my time. How about the herding dog? Why was she scared of it? It just "humped" her, that's all. Also, in the car going to the "witch doctor" the sounds in the car, like the whines of the puppy from earlier scene. Was that all the craziness roll into a ball, that she had experienced up til now? First question, why wasn't she able to sleep? noise? light? Why wouldn't the older sister let Alicia sleep somewhere else? Brink(?)character VERY annoying. How about just changing the title of the movie so people DO NOT expect MAGIC. Title of movies make you think that that word would be part of the movie. Titanic, you would not expect to see woodland creatures running and playing...you get my drift. Name it SPIRIALLA or something like it. Oh yeah, I felt like I was slapped at the ending. WHAT? I may sit and watch this again just to pay more attention....what did I miss?

There's really no reason for the low scores. Bare in mind they are usually accompanied by 'it wasn't what I was expecting' and 'I didn't understand it'. It's not complicated or pushing any boundaries but this is a good film with some horribly unlikeable characters and for me, some really upsetting/uncomfortable scenes. The lad out of Superbad has done a great job of switching up his typecast and portraying a convincing horrible character. This isn't a spoiler, you can get it from the synopsis but I think the film does a great job of showing how your previous experience, comfort zone, expectations and social anxieties can have such an effect on how different the same experience can be for people and how your own preconceptions fears can.....well just mess up a good time for everyone.

I could resume what i liked watching in one sentence: I liked juno temple boobs and ass. Almost nothing else with logic or sense happens in the movie. This is not a portrait of a girl with mental illness, although you can find some craziness there. What does hypnosis has to do with mental illness? What does psychopathy behavioural (like the killing of the animals)has to do with mental illness? And why she dies at the end? In the movie you see something that i don't know what is...a disease(?) that progresses rapidly. Whatever that is, mental illness takes its slow pace to evolve.Oh! and you don't die! ...just like that! If you like mental illness movies, try "one flew over cuckoo's nest" or "A Beautiful Mind" and leave this aside.
