Save your money for something good and enjoyable
One of my all time favorites.
If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
I love zombie movies, but this one... it coudn't be possibly worse. It's honestly the worse movie I've ever watched, and (believe me) I've seen a lot of movies from IMDb's "Lowest Rated Movies" list. I wish I could say this "movie" is a waste of time, but it isn't; it makes you sick watching how low can people go. This "movie" disrespects the seventh art in every single way: the plot, the performances, the script... everything! Doghouse is an insult to human intelligence!
Here is one of the most hilarious Zombie spoofs to come digging it's way out of the grave! 2009's, "Doghouse" is an absolutely original take on the way over used & abused Zombie sub-genre.A group of friends take off for a boys weekend of boozing, bonding, babe hunting, & all out good ole fashioned debauchery, as their trying to cheer up a buddy who has just went through divorce. They hire a mini bus with a hot female driver, & off they go into the English countryside to a village where another friend lives.Right off the bat you know this is going to be a funny affair, as one wife or girlfriend gives each of the guys the third degree for taking off together for a weekend of fun. Yes, these guys are hen pecked, & ready to fly the roost. Little do they know that the hens in the village are ready to peck them to death, as their all Zombies looking for that special guy which just happens to be any guy who crosses their path. Yes, these hens have sharp teeth & claws, & rooster is on the menu! What ensues is mass black comedy hilarity as our group of roosters try to get away with all their feathers still intact. The female Zombie make up is first rate & diverse! We have a hooker Zombie, a Grandmother Zombie, a barmaid Zombie, a beautician Zombie, a young bride Zombie, a woman politician Zombie, a teenage girl Zombie, a woman butcher Zombie, & maybe the most hilarious of all, a hugely obese housewife Zombie dressed in a huge tent of a bathrobe & hair curlers that loves candles on her cake made of men's fingers. Instead of having her cake & eating it to, she just likes to munch on a finger or two, or three, or four...Yes, it is revenge of the hens, as the roosters are crowing for help & trying to fly away with clipped wings! One funny scene after another fills this hugely entertaining black comedy, as our roosters devise anyway they can to overcome the chopping block, but those hen's feathers a ruffled, their beaks are ready, & their tummies are clucking! This is one film where the rooster want to fly the coupe & never come back!
The story of the film was a little strange and they really could of gone with a better ending, but that is not what makes this film fun. Imagine a village full of beautiful woman; zombies. Then a group of guys come in and kill them. The idea was pretty funny. That kind of makes the film more in the comedy field than horror. The cast was great. Danny Dyer was really funny with his remarks. Then you have Stephen Graham who is always entertaining when he goes into action star mode. Now the female zombies were interesting but not that scary. Well there was one zombie would was about 400 pounds who was actually pretty scary. Some do become a little scarier later in the film. But like I said, the only thing that seemed to mess up this film was the story line. Parts were pretty bad, but the film made up with some of the fun.
This is suppose to be a zombie comedy but it fails in a lot of levels. It just seemed cheap and not because of the budget but because of the direction of it all including the acting. Yeah this is a movie that shouldn't be taken seriously but even when they are trying to act funny it just seemed so fake and lame. Which can be dismissed but even the humor in this doesn't work. It just seemed like the director just wanted to put a group of guys in a zombie town with a crappy build up, and them just trying to survive in by going about in bunch of goofy approaches. There is hardly any character development, maybe a little as they try to survive in the zombie overrun town but that is about it. So you hardly care about any of the characters if they die or not, and they aren't even all that likable. The zombies aren't even like zombies, they are stupid but they carry weapons and has slight human characteristics to them in another words they are more goofy than scary. Which in this movie just seemed lame and not effective at all. It's good to try something different sometimes, but not in this case. It just seemed the director was just inspired by zombie movies and video games and a bit from Guy Ritchie, but is a amateur since anyone could have directed this. I give it props for it trying to be a good zombie movie but it just fails in many levels like I said. The zombies don't even infect you if they bite you, instead they are like a man hating feminist cannibals with weapons. This isn't a awful zombie flick but wasn't all that good either.6/10
