Steven Seagal stars in a horror film where he has to battle against vampires ! The premise alone made me want to watch this and it wasn't until I came to this site that I found out this was Seagal's first horror movie . The downside to AGAINST THE DARK is that if it wasn't for the dubious star name in the cast then the film wouldn't have much appeal outside the hard core horror market . It's one of those movies that differs very little than most of the other ones broadcast on SyFy and The Horror Channel It's unoriginal and derivative and in this case owes an awful lot to 28 WEEKS LATER with characters trying to escape a lair populated by infected creatures and an army officer on the outside wanting to sterilize the area regardless of whether people are infected or not . What I find difficult to believe is that the film cost 7 million dollars because there's a very limited number of small sets which are poorly lit and a small cast with no well known faces except for Seagal and Keith David . So was this film made as a tax scam or what . Even if it cost half that there's no way it would have made a profit

This is a pretty cool straight-to-video action/horror flick that happens to co-star Steven Seagal. I say co-star because he really isn't in it that much. But when you do see him he is kicking butt. Seagal looks thinner and there are some pretty cool one liners. Very over-the-top. The special effects were surprisingly good and top notch. Basically a group of survivors are hiding out in an abandoned hospital from the zombie/vampires. Seagal leads a group known as "hunters" and they team up with the survivors inside. The acting is decent and the gore is plenty. Seagal really isn't the star of the flick. The black sidekick does most of the butt kicking but you do get a lot of sword action from Seagal. A huge step up from Killswitch. Urban Justice and Pistol Whipped are both good films from Seagal's straight-to-video era.

Steven Seagal Vs Zomb...Vamp...Mutants?Movie tells a familiar story of a killer virus mutating people and few survivors trying to, well survive even more. There are all so "hunter" who just walk around the city killing Zomb..Vamp...Mutants? Well really one character does the killing, and its not Segal...I don't really know why they call it a Seagal movie because Steve is not really the main character, he is just walking and attacking the camera grew, he only has few lines and don't have much screen time. Movie would been much better if Tanoai Reed were the main character, because that dude fighting was the only thing i liked this movie.Something about the survivors? Well they run a lot and have no homing instinct, i see lots of maps on the hospital but no one is taking one with them.... I wonder how people with no weapons could survive in this Zomb...Vamp...Mutant? infested world.This was a really sad movie... 2 points to Tanoai Reed, give this dude all the movies Seagal tries to do.

This is by far the worst Steven Seagal movie that I have ever seen. The action sucked, and their was literally no plot. Steven was not even really a main character and I wasted 16 dollars on this hunk of junk. I mean I really thought this was going to be a good movie, but it turned out to be very bad. I thought this movie was going to be like Blade, but it turned out to be a hunk of junk. I have scene much better movies with Steven Seagal. Watch Belly of The Beast, Out Of Reach, Into the Sun, and many more of his movies are very good also Hard To Kill, and Exit Wounds are a few good movies among many more. Especially Driven To Kill and Kill Switch.
