Purely Joyful Movie!
I'll tell you why so serious
A brilliant film that helped define a genre
It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
I can't watch movies anymore where extraterrestrials or angels fight each other with conventional weapons. In this film, switchblades and silencers are the weapons of choice. Ha!7 'arc angels' are sent to fight with 7 bad ones, but only at certain times. They live in the ghetto, more effective then if they lived in a penthouse. And why is there always a thunderstorm when they arrive? This fil is filled with every cliché, and every misnomer. Why bother?
I find the IMDb rating for this movie saying more about the voters then about the movie. Most people are unaffected apparently. I am hit full face by this movie. The films mirroring of the human condition is nothing short of spectacular. I don't think this film could have been made this good by any other kind of budget or by any other set of prerequisites for that matter. The actors, the director, the story line, the art direction and special effects all tuned into each other. This is one of those very rare times that all the pieces just fall perfectly together. Beautiful... hopefully with time more people will discover this masterpiece.
Very good movie with some decent dialogue and spectacular action scenes. Gabriel was very well played. As was Michael. Nice twist to the Sammael/Michael identity. I hate to write a critique of this movie, but it won't let me post a review without ten lines of text. I thought the powers of the different angels was out of whack. Also Uriel, being a man instead of the woman Gabriel was seeking didn't make sense. And him being too drunk to defend himself was ludicrous. Some of the Angels were too easy to kill. Gabe should have been demonstrably stronger than any except Michael. etc. Hope this was enough text to enable the posting of this review.
OK let's get the bad stuff out of the way first, it's a low budget film, the actors aren't great and generally quite bad a times but that is easily forgiven. To me there is a lot of truth within this film and the story is good which is ultimately what makes this film good and it's a great example that you don't need millions to make a decent film as well as the artistic feel (at times) it's just let down by some terrible acting, corny moments because this could have been a masterpiece if they worked on those things. They are actually working on a sequel and I for one am very exited, hopefully they'll work on the aforementioned negatives and make a brilliant next movie.
