This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Deacon (Jean-Claude Van Damme) goes to Hong Kong to donate his kidney to his niece. The night before, he runs into an ironic urban legend and gets his kidney removed in a hotel home. Determined to get his kidney back, Deacon injects morphine and goes after the bad guys with his brother George (John Ralston) getting in the way. This is another in a series (it is not over) of old action heroes beating up guys less than half their age and doing it with a handicap. I know I can barely walk after I have been under a knife, and when I do, it is not pretty. How far will this go? I mean he tells a story of crawling across the Afghanistan desert with two broken legs. The film was fun for a moment when Van Damme chose the Bible as his lethal weapon of choice. There was of course some Hollywood street theology dialogue which didn't help the film. The most amazing aspect of this film is that this script was sold.Guide: F-bomb, sex, Van Damme/ body double butt nudity

I really feel bad about Van Damme some of his latest movies are so bad and other's well they're nice for what they are this one is just boring. The film is about Jean Claude Van Damme loosing his kidney and he goes in search to find it. The bad thing about this movie is that every time that he fights he acts like his bored or that his tired he has lost a lot of weight but also his movies are just not that great anymore if you see Schwarzenegger in Maggie amazing performance or Stallone in Creed pure epicness in here? it's just an old tired Van Damme alongside a dumb cast with bad acting, script and direction and aww by the way the ending sucked but the movie has some good action sequences and violence i'll give them that.

Reteaming with his ASSASSINATION GAMES and 6 BULLETS director Ernie Barbarash, Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as an ex-Special Forces badass who is planning to donate one of his kidneys to his dying niece. However, after a night of partying he wakes up in his hotel to find out he's become the victim of organ theft and he sets himself on a path of revenge to get it back. Say what you will about the quality of films that go direct-to-DVD, but it should be commended that they manage to sneak in social issue commentary from time to time. The premise for this film is actually an intriguing one, but to my disappointment the execution of said premise was trite at best, ludicrous at worst. It should also be said that one doesn't usually go into Van Damme films expecting great acting, but aside from Van Damme, who has actually gotten better with age, the entire cast sucked at delivering even the simplest exposition. Despite this type of film usually being an excuse to string together a bunch of fight scenes, they actually tried to make a story that you would care about. I mean, who wouldn't root for a guy to reclaim his kidney so that his young niece would survive? That's just one example of the cheap emotional theatrics that this sorry excuse for a film resorts to in order to gain audience sympathy. Seeing as how they expected you to take this story seriously, one would expect some logic in the plot, but alas there was little to be found. Characters weave in and out of the story as needed, basically showing up to say their lines and deliver some piece of information that the main cast needs. I could go on, but I'd be here all day. I also found the film lacking from a technical standpoint. Since it was probably filmed on digital video, every scene that isn't stock/time-lapse footage had this cheap, soap opera look. The only time that this really worked was in some early flashback scenes that were de-saturated to the point of being black and white. With some selective color flourishes, it had a "Sin City" vibe that I kind of liked. So, you might ask, how was the action, since that's what most Van Damme fans will probably care most about? I have to say, it was decent. I just wish there had been more of it. Unfortunately, the film is very front-loaded in this respect. There's a club scene early on, part of which is in the trailer, where Deacon (Van Damme) literally beats up some people with a Bible. This is probably the best fight in the movie, and Van Damme doesn't really get another good one until the end when he faces off against Darren Shahlavi's villainous Drake (for the second time, actually). Between then, it's just a lot of exposition interrupted by some relatively uninteresting gunplay. Generally speaking, the action was well-filmed and choreographed, but there wasn't enough of it, in my opinion. Smaller issues that took me out of the film were that even though this was supposed to take place in the Philippines, it was quite obvious that, apart from a couple of establishing shots, this was mostly filmed in China, as all of the signs were in Chinese. There was also some dodgy green-screen work and CGI blood, which is partially understandable, given the low budget. When it comes down to it, this probably one of the worst latter-day Van Damme movies I've ever seen. The whole thing feels cheap and low-rent, and the narrative conveniences pile up to such a degree that it feels ridiculous. Pretty much the entire cast can't act, making this painful to watch. If you want a good, recent Van Damme movie then check out JCVD, or the other two Ernie Barbarash collaborations. POUND OF FLESH isn't worth your time or money.

This movie was somewhat hyped as the "Van Damme is back in full action force" or something like that. I was expecting an action showcase, with spin kicks and fights all the way true. Instead the movie seem to focus a lot on story...Don't get me wrong, the story is not bad, its not stellar either but this is more what would i expect from a Pierce Brosnan movie in 2015, not a Van Damme one.The first fight of the movie despite being very short is actually one of the best, it shows kicking and what we are use to see from Van Damme. The rest seem to mainly focus on MMA type of ground and grappling attacks, which if done right can be fun on screen, but here i tough it didn't suit Van Damme at all. The fights just appear to be slow, clunky and lack luster in general. I know Van Damme is not too young anymore but i left me without much excitement unlike his other recent movies that i fairly enjoyed.Sadly Darren Shalavi passed away lately and this will be one of his last film along his Kickboxer remake role(if he had time to finish everything, which i hope he did) and to be fairly honest i know he could do much better than in this movie. Maybe he had to tone down himself to match Van Damme, but i saw much better fights with the younger Scott Adkins for example.Another thing that was very bad is the fake CGI blood, it really looked terrible. There is also one particular gunshot they totally forgot to add the damage to it. You will know which one when you see it.Now despite being far from a great movie, it was enjoyable to a degree, i guess i was just expecting a lot better from a kick ass trailer. I had much more fun with 6 Bullets and Ennemies Closer for example. But i still think Van Damme has a lot of potential left, i hope he keep making movies. Lately its been hit or miss but the misses mostly had him in secondary roles, like Dragon Eyes or Universal Soldier 4, but this one has him really as main character. I will still rent the next one no matter.
