As a previous reviewer has said, this film was amazing. I am not sure what I expected, but as its nearly Christmas I thought lets watch a christmassy movie. Without giving too much plot away, suffice it to say that the story line was simple but effective. Loads of famous faces in there, but for me the kids were just brilliant. Not your normal stage school stuff, but they appeared like normal children from a normal school having a laugh and making a nativity play for real, but this play was a blockbuster production. Brilliantly done and not only do you laugh but you cry as well. One little chappy, tiny blonde boy was absolutely adorable. and in one scene when all the little girls want to be Mary....well watch it....absolute genius! This is by far one of the nicest feel good movies in a long time, and very heart warming. Watch it alone, watch it with others. you wont be sorry. Merry Christmas everyone!

Primary school teacher Paul Maddens is charged with producing the school's nativity play.Competing against the posh rival school for the honour of best reviewed show in town, the stakes are raised when Paul boasts that his ex-girlfriend Jennifer, a Hollywood Producer, is coming to see his show with a view to turning it into a film. With assistant Mr Poppy fuelling his lie, Maddens suddenly finds himself a local celebrity and at the centre of parents and over-excited children desperate for fame and fortune.Maddens' only hope is to get back in touch with Jennifer and lure Hollywood to town....To be honest, the poster for this movie put me right off. I make a rule of not seeing a film where the star is surrounded by kids looking slightly perplexed, see also Daddy Day Care. But my daughter dragged me to see the sequel, and that wasn't too bad, so I thought 'why not'.And to be fair, it's a really fun film, not a Christmas classic by any means, but clever, and funny. And kudos to the makers, if there is any truth to the fact that the majority of this was improvised.Freeman is as good as always, if being a little too much like Tim from the office, but he has great chemistry with the children, and they are endearing also. It's predictable, but who cares, it's a Christmas movie and it does its job of making you feel gooey inside and happy with the world for at least five minutes after the film has finished.

Whats not to love about this movie? the adult performances are fine (martin freeman doing his usual spot on job), but it's the performance of the kids that have you crying with laughter one minute and just crying the next. This was an unexpected pleasure and an absolute joy from start to finish. This has definitely gone to the top of my "must watch at Christmas" list!! I defy anyone to watch this and not feel the emotions well up (in a good way!) as they view it! If for nothing else, then watch this movie for the last thirty minutes or so to see the nativity play in its full amazing show. Anyone with kids knows what its like to sit through these events, but you'll wish this is how your kids had done it!

This is a truly lovely film about being human and striving for the divine - wonderful way to spend your time (with/withoutkids) during the Christmas season. The only problem is that it contains inaccurate information about the birth of Christ. Like many pop culture stories, they make Mary & Joseph teenagers. While Mary was, Joseph was a widower in his 80s. Since the time of Solomon there were virgins living in the temple, the daughters of kings and priests. Mary was one, dedicated to the temple at 3. When they matured, at about 13, they were married, but Mary insisted on remaining a virgin, per her deceased parents' wishes. The elders had to find a man to entrust with Mary. Praying for guidance, an angel appeared to the high priest and told them to put their walking sticks in Holy of Holies and God would make a sign to let them know who would be chosen to be Mary's husband. Joseph, who had not wanted to be included, owned the staff that flowered and had to take her to his home in Nazareth. Mortified because he had grandsons older than Mary, he left her with his womenfolk and went away to work for 6 months. When he returned home, he heard the "good news". Otherwise, very sweet movie!
