I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
best movie i've ever seen.
Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
What a good movie. I had to get this out right away. Impressed with every ones efforts who were involved in this. Bravo. I couldn't help but think of all the other "spy" type movies while this one played out especially James Bond of which this movie even mentions! Here we get to see the beginning of an ordinary citizen who is called reluctantly to participate in something and how it develops and unfolds. The acting is as real as one can get leaving no room for doubt or criticisms but instead, reels you right in creating suspense and credibility. The training, which is not limited to physical work-outs, that the main character goes through is superb and believable. The first test of that training is also thrilling to watch as it plays out. Great movie to discuss and of course the idea of it being based on a true story is the icing for some. The villain in this movie is true to villainy as the hero is and support staff is true to their beliefs as well. Who will win out? How? Why? Enjoy the answers that present themselves along with quality entertainment for the two hours it plays out. Highly recommend a tasty drink, food, snack and no cell phone or interruptions for the full enjoyment potential here. This should have been one of the greats in the mainstream Hollywood game. Now, it can be great in your own world
Before watching it, I expected an average action movie without depth, a simple entertainment. Nevertheless, this movie is better than expected. It is really amusing and the characters are well developed. The plot is not original (in fact, I saw other two movies about the terrorist called "The Jackal, which are very good, too). The director Christian Duguay, who also directed another decent action thriller titled "The art of war", knew how to set a fluid and amusing pace which makes you pay attention to the movie during its entire duration (less than two hours, but not short). The cast is rather good. Both the protagonist and the antagonist roles is played by Aidan Quinn (yes, he plays the part of the bad and the bad guys: the soldier assigned to hunt down the Jackal and the Jackal himself because they are supposed to be very alike phisically). Ben Kingsley plays another important role and is very correct. Maybe, the most interesting character is played by Donald Sutherland: he plays the part of the CIA agent who trains and tells the protagonist to kill the Jackal even by blackmailing him. The reasons are never very clear, but we know that he is eager to catch the Jackal. The action scenes are realistic and well-made (specially, the ones of the training and the car chase). The movie has some violent intense scenes, like some showing how the protagonist gets ready to impersonate the Jackal in order to catch him. The rest of the cast does a decent job with no more special mentions. There is nothing relevant about the photography and the sound (it is simply right). In conclusion, the best things of the movie are the intensity of some scenes as well as its pace whereas the worse thing is that it has nothing else remarkable, like a very original plot, amazing action scenes, a beautiful photography, etc. All those who like realistic action movies and thrillers will surely enjoy "The assignment". 8.
I really liked this film. It was on one of the obscure digital channels and we happened to notice it in the schedules. The film is full of action and yet it is totally believable as it is based, I understand, on actual events. I have always much preferred films which are understated (notwithstanding the action this one is!) as opposed to those in the bang bang shoot shoot the hero never gets shot despite 50 men firing Kalashnikovs at him at point blank range variety, if you know what I mean. I would put this film in the same category as the Harry Palmer series; Spy Who Came in from the Cold variety etc. The performance were excellent from all the leads. Brilliant combination of Aidan Quinn, Donald Sutherland (always like his films)and Ben Kingsley. They always give such believable performances. I have always thought that Aidan Quinn has not received the recognition he deserves. He can play any part and never overacts: a total natural. In Stakeout for example (not my favourite film by any means), which was essentially a black comedy, he exuded menace to the point of psychotic - brilliant. In the next film he is able to play a character for whom the audience has total sympathy.
Once I knew that Donald Sutherland, (Jack Shaw/Henry Fields) was appearing in this film it instantly told me this was going to be a good picture to view. Most of Sutherland's pictures are full of action and suspense and he can play a rather cruel character and can also be quite charming and kind. In this picture, Jack Shaw did his very best to be a good guy and a bad guy while he was training a Naval Office to become a spy who had to change his entire identity and become a different person over night. There is plenty of car chase scenes and plenty of stunt men situations which I would not want to perform. This Naval Officer lived in a quite community with his wife and was a father, but you would never realize that fact until the film reveals his horrible background secrets which he had to keep from his family and friends. Good spy film and great acting by all the actors.
