Watch Night of the Creeps For Free

Admirable film.

Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

Space slugs that eat brains and turn humans into zombies on a college campus. Tom Atkins playing a weathered veteran detective with some great one liners. Sprinkle a ton of 80's all over this movie and you have Night of the Creeps.I have no clue how I have not seen this movie before. The way it combines zombie, slashers, alien invasion/body snatching movies along with some great humor was a blast. I can't remember having ever seen a science fiction/horror/comedy movie before and as odd as it sounds it works incredibly well.After checking it out on Shudder I will definitely be picking up the Blu-ray and revisiting this 80's nostalgia filled gem.

Night of the Creeps is kind of a scifi/horror hybrid. Night of the Creeps could also be considered a zombie film. When aliens dump some sort of expirment on earth, it unleases these alien slugs that take over their victem's bodies and uses them to expand their ranks.I'll be honest, this film is a real slow burner. It takes a long time to get to the point, which is the zombies. Most of the film you are going to be introduced to the human characters and the drama that surrounds their lives.When you finally do arrive at the zombie hoards, it's a little underwhelming. While the special effects are fairly good, there's very little shown violence, simply implied violence and puddles of blood.On top of that, a majority of the zombies don't actually pose much of a threat, simply shambling around, moaning and groaning. They don't make any real attempts at killing or eating their victems. There's really only one zombie that really poses a threat and that's because it has a ax it randomly swings around.There's a reason why Night of the Creeps didn't do well in the threater, it foucses more on the characters and their lives than the action, blood and gore that should be ever present in a zombie flick.

This B-movie looks, feels and smells like the decade that spawned it, the 80's. A somewhat unknown film "Night of the Creeps" isn't a blockbuster or epic film by any stretch of the imagination, even as a B-movie it struggles at times to have an identity. It's not really until the last half an hour that the film really gets going. This is a bit of a pity as the opening 10/15 mins offers up so much tacky promise. Aliens unwittingly allow an alien spore loose on Earth, it lands in the middle of nowhere America and coincides with a lunatic escapee attacking people. After the police think they have brought the maniac down they assume the trouble is over but they don't account for the Alien spore which is incubating in the brain of the madman. Flash-forward to the 80's and some college kids unwittingly unleash the corpse of the lunatic (it's been locked up as an experiment) which reanimates due to the alien spore to make a zombie. Once loose the zombie and alien spore escape to wreak havoc around the college on the lead up to prom night. As the alien spore breeds it multiplies and gradually more and more of the college kids become zombies. Will the zombies bring down college and middle America or will somebody step up to the mark and fight? Do they have a shotgun and a flamethrower? Hopefully!With it being an 80's B-movie expect low budget effects, the aliens at the beginning will set expectations for this. The plot isn't that original as it's all been done before. The acting is pretty awful and that's saying something as it looked like it was meant to be serious for the most part. If you think you recognise the main star, Jason Lively, it's because he was Rusty Griswold in "national Lampoon's European Vacation". The pace of the film is pretty bad, for the first half an hour I had a conversation and I Still didn't miss anything, nothing really happens other than setting the scene for some loser college kids. I usually really like cheap and tacky B-Movies but this didn't do much for me. I'm going to give this 3 out of 10, I've watched it so you don't have to and I won't be in a rush to watch it again for a very long time. Oh my God, I've just learned that this "straight to VHS" trash got a sequel, please no!

In 1959, an alien throws an experiment from his spaceship to the space and the capsule crashes on Earth. The college students Pam (Alice Cadogan) and Johnny (Ken Heron) are dating in a parking area nearby the location and believe it is a falling star. Steve decides to investigate, but they are warned by Pam's former boyfriend, the police officer Ray Cameron, that a maniac is killing people in that area with an ax. However Steve leaves Pam and walks in the woods looking for the star and a slug-like creature jumps into his mouth.In 1986, the college students Chris (Jason Lively) and the disabled J.C. (Steve Marshall) are best friends and Chris has a crush on Cynthia Cronenberg (Jill Whitlow), who is the girlfriend of the cocky Brad (Allan J. Kayser). They decide to join Brad's fraternity to impress Cynthia and Brad tells that they need to bring a corpse and leave in front of another fraternity. They go to the Med School Laboratory of the Corman University and find Johnny's body in a cryogenic chamber. They remove the corpse from the chamber but get scared and leave the body on the floor. However, Johnny leaves the laboratory and releases slugs that transform people into zombies. Detective Ray Cameron (Tom Atkins) is in charge of the investigation and initially believes that it is a prank. But soon he realizes that the campus is crowded of zombies. "Night of the Creeps" is a cult-movie by Fred Dekker with a funny story of aliens, slugs and zombies. This movie is a sort of comedy and tribute to the zombie, slasher and sci-fi genres. There are good performances, the make-up is great and the lead actress Jill Whitlow is cute. This film follows the formula of B-movie inclusive with many beautiful legs and breasts in the sorority house. My vote is seven.Title (Brazil): "A Noite dos Arrepios" ("The Night of the Creeps")
