Surprisingly incoherent and boring
For all the hype it got I was expecting a lot more!
Beautiful, moving film.
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
There's absolutely no reason to watch this movie. Everyone has given a synopsis of the plot, or lack of one. There were so many nonsensical things going on that who the hell cares about the hellions or the main character. Avoid this at all costs..
Stressful and non-nexus film. In several moments we are seeing something that is not the reality and this ends up confusing the public. History could be better taken advantage of! I was sleepy and disappointed! The film is so silly that hardly anyone is satisfied with the ending.
And that usually is a good thing, if a director does not copy one of his best movies. On the other hand, this is so far out, it won't please most of the people watching it. I even can't tell exactly what it is or what it is aiming for exactly. I just know that it is very otherworldly and it has a lot of fantasy involved. Some might argue, that it's sophisticated, some might just think it's annoying. It can also be considered boring I reckon, depending on what you expect from it. You cannot deny that it has a flavor to it, it does have a certain look and feel to it, that you'll either like or hate. I'm not even sure everyone will consider this a horror movie, although it does have all the ingredients. It's just weird and hard to explain ... like a weird dream/nightmare you may not be able to escape ...
This movie is clearly a piece of pro-life propaganda from about five minutes in and while philosophical stances in movies and using horror as allegory is not always a bad thing, in this case it is just too heavy handed and shallow to really be any good. There is barely any thought given to character or plot and it is more all about creating striking visuals to drive home the message of how wrong it is to have an abortion. Whatever your stance on the issue it does not mean that you can't make a subtler and more thought-provoking film on the subject, otherwise you are just preaching to the converted. If you can look past the blatant bias that this movie possesses then there are some cool visuals and a dream-like feel that makes the film pretty unique considering it seems like the people who made it didn't actually care about the substance of their product. Still though I can't recommend a movie for style alone so I would give this one a miss, unless you just want to be told what you already know.
