Sorry, this movie sucks
If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
This was one of the better Hallmark Christmas movies I've seen. Normally, I don't care for them, but this one really stuck with me. I highly enjoyed it & well casted. I hope you give it a chance! Wait, it's a book too? :o
Sexy looking guy as a main character, with pleasant looking female lead as well as their two good looking female assistants. Light, fluffy movie was fun to watch for the first time & again for a second time.
Fortunately I have not read the book and judging by the other reviews about this story it has much more depth than the film which it is supposed to be based around. I found the film a shallow, contrived confection of bad writing, zero chemistry between the two leads and some dodgy sets (and snow).I have seen both of the lead actors in other roles where they have been convincing and real. Jaime in the Bulletproof Monk (was a brunette and a much better colour for her skin tone) and Luke in the TV series Killjoys.I think if you are looking for a predictable love story that ticks some of the boxes, and you're female (no way any red blooded male would entertain watching this!!) then give it a go.Can't quite understand how these scripts get funding when there are so many talented writers out there with better stories/characters and plot lines etc.The quality of TV movies needs improving, we've already seen how compelling the likes of Game of Thrones has been and they are based on books. I challenge Hallmark to take a chance, step outside of your comfort zone, it could make all the difference!!
Having read the book, my wife and I both commented at the end of the movie, "What happened to the book?" In the book, Elise has been dumped on by her ex-husband and best friend. She has a dull job where she is put down by Zoey, has no friends and harbors a secret that drags her down. Not like Elise in the movie. Although a partner at his law firm, Nick is also lonely and harbors a secret that drags him down. In the movie, Elise and Nick come closer together and in the end, you expect them to tell each other their secrets, but it never happens. That is what makes the book so good. If you have two hours to spend, forget the movie and read the book. You will feel a lot better.
