It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

I normally do not watch romantic comedies, but I do enjoy them, and am not averse to estrogen-laden cinema. This movie, however, was difficult to continue watching. Lovitz did good work, Rudd was pretty solid, Pfeiffer did not bring her best, although she still shines--albeit excessively--in this turd of a movie. The most enjoyable part of this movie was trying to predict which lighting option was gonna hit Michelle Pfeiffer in each scene. And the other redeeming quality was Stacey Dash, she's beautiful. And Henry Winkler, the Fonz rules. Save you money, do not watch this. Straight to DVD for many reasons.

I always say "warning spoiler," but I try not to spoil.... This is one of my new favorite Romantic Comedies. I just love it. The name doesn't give a clue to the movie itself..I mean, I understand it...but it is such a good movie, you'd never know by the title. One of my fav. things is the dance scene. I won't give hints or who or what, but it is SO cute. I wasn't a big Paul Rudd fan before this movie, but LOVE him now. What a grin. And, some of the things the mom and daughter said to each other, remind me of me and my girl. Yes, single mom here with a teenager, who is much more mature than me. Course, I look NOTHING like M.P., but hey, what the heck. Kick back, have a laugh and enjoy this movie. Witty and different outlook. One thing I also loved, was the supportive stance on making young women feel worthy, even if they aren't "stick figgered." hahah "Isn't it moronic....don't you think?" hahah

I came at this because it is a Yasmin Paige, aka the tooth fairy, Tooth, just she is only in it for a few minutes, as Melanie, a friend of the daughter. For me they are special moments. So I need to like this feature for a different reason and I have a problem. The DVD blurb says this is a romantic comedy that guys can enjoy, just I wonder if it is written for the sort of guys who started off as girls? Could it be true that some girls and women might actually find this comedy a bit too painful? This does not follow the footsteps of Clueless, it is background notes by way of other generations. The Woody Allen musical was difficult, but approachable, I could even get to luv it. Drafting this, version 1.00, I have only seen I c.n.b.y. Woman the once. Traditional female and male versus being true to oneself, doing things as well as one can, trouser skills. This has mum, played by M Pfeiffer looking a lot like Goldie Hawn? She has clear trouser skills at work, but needs to be a traditional female when it comes to romance. Paul Rudd, the brotherly love figure in Clueless, as the love interest. Young and pretty, still in his twenties. Young and pretty has fallen for the older woman, just she is trad female in that sort of thing. A peak of inspiration comes in his early dance and modern men know what that sort of inspired can mean. Scream at the reaction of mum's ex to this pretty and muse on meaning. Daughter, searcher Saoirse (Circae? Sir See? Sur Sea? Shursie?) Ronan, is trying to be a traditional helpless girl and messing up badly because of that. This is someone who needs to start wearing symbolic trousers and her love needs put a stop to that, even though she would do better with appropriate trouser skills. So, her idea of being true to oneself, doing things as well as one can, does come close to sinking the family. On the surface this appears to be a story about soap in the new world, Paradise City, La. In reality this is very old world stuff. I do not have the maturity needed for this sort of story. Except if I hope to ever cross the desert to a tolerable sort of promised land then I need to consider such things. * Footnote: This is a story that is not always too open about what it means. Comedy might be the wrong sort of pigeonhole for this. I am reminded that male to female tended to get real warfare against us by pure blood feminists unimpressed by improper practical ideas re girl ways. I am reminded that some of those brought up in the ways of classical good were prone to fall into such as the SM trap. I am reminded that the marooned ET had a strong belief in classical good. * Ouch. Second viewing. So different. I take it all back, it just is not like this. Is this a girlie flick made for over forties girlies, but likely to scare some over forties way too much? Some things are meant to be private?

Amy Heckerling brings forth a delightful romantic comedy centred around the romance between a younger man and older woman. But what makes this one different is the director's treatment. Heckerling's 'I Could Never Be Your Woman' follows the same style of her 'Clueless'. What I liked about the comedy is that the humour is quite dry and that goes very well with the mood and situations of the film. Unlike most recent movies of this genre, it does not heavily rely on slapstick or vulgarity. It is pretty much comprised of all kinds of comedy like satire, a bit of slapstick, innuendos, symbolism, visual jokes and wit. The whimsical soundtrack gives the movie an upbeat feel. Heckerling gently presents themes like people's obsession with youth, plastic surgery, looks mattering more than personality and talent.Heckerling's exceptional cast The eternally gorgeous Michelle Pfeiffer takes a break from the negative roles and delivers a splendid performance. I liked her chemistry with her co-stars. It's as though even after being a big movie star she really enjoyed working with the actors. Likewise, Paul Rudd gives a natural and hilarious performance. Everything he does is funny. Saoirse Ronan does an excellent job too. I liked her performance here more than what she did in 'Atonement'. The eternally hot Stacey Dash plays the bimbo very effectively (I can't believe she's actually 40 and yet she so right for the part). Jon Lovitz and Tracey Ullman are brilliant respectively as the image obsessed ex and the angry Mother Nature. It was great to see familiar British faces like Graham Norton and Sarah Alexander who superbly plays the passive aggressive unsuccessful seductress.I also liked how Heckerling and the actors portrayed the relationships between the characters. It really comes across as authentic, natural and sincere. For example, the scene where Rosie and her daughter play with Barbies, Adam 'acting around' with everyone, Nathan's obsession with looking young, Rosie arguing with Mother Nature. Izzie's versions of 'Ironic'...these are all very genuine, clever and funny ideas and it is these little things that make 'I Could Never Be Your Woman' a unique gem.
