Boulevard
Nolan Mack, a soft-spoken bank employee, undoubtedly loves his wife Joy, though their cavernous empty house only underscores how disconnected they’ve always been from each other. Nolan finds himself drifting from his familiar present-day life in pursuit of lost time after meeting a troubled young man named Leo on his drive home. What begins as an aimless drive down an unfamiliar street turns into a life-altering series of events.

One of my all time favorites.
Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Boulevard features Robin Williams in his last main role. He plays Nolan, a closeted homosexual man in a marriage of convenience who works in a bank. He visits his ill father in hospital, he hates his job and he is 60 years old and feels his life has been unfulfilled. One night he nearly runs over a young gay hustler Leo. Nolan pays him money to spend time with him and soon becomes infatuated with him. Leo has money problems, drug problems and has a violent pimp. Nolan thinks he can straighten his life out maybe get him a job and does not realise he is being used. Leo after all is a male prostitute. He needs to do tricks to get money, he needs money for drugs. Both lives are on the verge of heading out of control.Kathy Baker plays Nolan's wife. They sleep in separate beds almost live separate lives but does not want to be without him. Bob Odenkirk plays his friend who is worried about what is happening to Nolan.Boulevard is a not a very good film, it is a very generic drama, too foreseeable for my liking. Twenty five years ago (see The Lost Language of the Cranes with Brian Cox) it would had been risky, daring and cutting edge but not anymore.Williams gives a very restraint performance but it is predictable. You know he has bitten off more than he can chew with Leo, he will fall in love with him, try to make him change, improve his life but Leo will just go on to hustle. For Nolan the even are cathartic, on the verge of promotion he realises he needs to change his life even at this late stage.
As a big fan of the late Robin Williams, I didn't even hesitate to pick up this film when I saw him on the cover. Unfortunately I was very disappointed by the plot line. It builds slowly as Nolan begins to take care in some way of a destitute young man named Leo but it ultimately goes nowhere. There is very little action, very little intensity and I ended up being bored. On a positive note though, the acting was great by both Williams and the others. Their roles didn't seem fake or forced, but the backstory left me feeling as though I should've skipped this movie. It wasn't the worst I've ever seen but it's not one I would recommend.
A slow character-study drama of a man with many secrets.I can't really say more than that without starting to spoil it which I refuse to do, but if you like slice of life dramas where it's not so much about 'what happens' but about people that feel like real people, then this is a perfectly fine film.Director Dito Montiel had a great start in his career with 'A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints' and 'Fighting' but seemingly lost his touch afterwards with the sub-par thrillers 'Son Of No One' and 'Empire State'.But this movie shows that he still can convey true emotion in his films which is nice to see that we haven't lost him just yet.We have of course lost Robin Williams (literally) and that's a darn shame cause he was a great actor which he indeed get to show here.
Contrary to what most here have posted, this movie is just as sickening as you may have imagined after glancing at the synopsis. Robin Williams has always been a bad actor with a fondness for portraying sodomites, so this movie was just par for the course. I had to force myself to watch the entire movie due to the abhorrent subject matter, but basically, this movie is about a disturbed man with low libido, presumably molested as a child, who betrays his loving family and turns to sodomizing guys to add some spice in his life. Quite a lesson to learn from, huh?Don't waste your time on this one and definitely keep the kids away.
