When I walked out of this movie, I was shaken to the core, and I didn't recover for a good 24 hours. Why, you ask? Because I realized I had just seen the defining film of the 2010's. Like Enter the Void, Taxi Driver, or Kids, this is a draining experience. But also like these films, and perhaps even more so, this movie deserves to be seen so people can witness the sheer mastery of the craft displayed here by one of the cinematic geniuses of our time-Derek Savage. Martin Scorsese should be whacked over his failure to create a film as full of life as this one. Quentin Tarantino should commit hara-kiri because he has never made a film as bursting at the seams with creativity as this one. Over the next few paragraphs, I shall try to dissect just some of the themes and characters that make this film a masterwork of American cinema. For once, a hero with complex and uneasy moral shades. Despite his moniker, Cool Cat consistently seems to act uncool throughout the film, showing the pressure he is under to live up to the legacy he has created for himself as a symbol. Here we see a clear inspiration from Nolan's Batman trilogy. The first musical number is extremely important. Look closely, and you'll notice that none of the equipment is plugged in. While simple-minded fools may dismiss this as lazy on the part of Savage, he's actually giving us some brilliantly subtle symbolism. Cool Cat sings, but his microphone is not plugged in, resulting in nothing coming out. A clear metaphor for our protagonist's existential dread. He shouts and shouts, but nobody can hear him. Consider also the fact that Cool Cat is much older than his playmates. As in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, Savage finds a poignancy in a hero who, despite his aging body, still valiantly makes the effort to bring justice to those around him. And you'd have to be joking if you say you missed the brilliance of the constantly messy audio tracks. These symbolize the rapid insanity that is taking over Cool Cat's mind as he faces the torment of Butch the Bully, also brilliantly demonstrated in the dream sequence. Speaking of Butch, he is one of the great modern movie villains, up there with Anton Chigurh and Hans Landa. We see that his evil is caused by a deep and tragic loneliness. Unable to place his feelings of isolation, he instead lashes out in anger at those around him, becoming an unstable sociopath in the process. He picks on others to make them as insecure as him and influences them to join him in his schemes, showing in a terrifying way how the cycle of juvenile delinquency will continue, effectively destroying any future these kids might have once had. This movie made me cry, gasp, yell, and at some points even laugh, in a defensive kind of way. It changed me. I guarantee it will change you.

I came across this movie while seeing critics of it such as the videos from YourMovieSucks or I Hate Everything and thought this could be quite enjoyable on a "So bad that it's good" way. But boy, was I wrong. The human hybrid cat called "Cool Cat" is a heroic cat teaching children how to deal with bullies and vandalism, what to do if you find a gun and... how to get to Hollywood I guess? The acting is probably one of the worst I've ever seen. "Butch", played by Connor Dean, is a mean bully, doing everything to hurt Cool Cat and his friends. He plays his role like a ludicrous super villain but with no real intentions whatsoever. He's just evil for the sake of being evil. That's all. That's his entire character. Cool Cats friend "Maria", played by Jessica R. Salazar, is always happy and totally naive. In her dialogue you can see that Savage has no idea how kids interact with each other, letting her use words like "groovy", which nobody on earth is saying anymore. Salazars job at portraying this character could've been worse, but it's still awful. "Daddy Derek", played by Derek Savage himself, is probably the character that scared me the most. He's married to a humanoid cat lady thing, speaks in an extremely weird manner and his mimic is the creepiest sh*t I've ever seen. Especially while playing this god awful song. With lines such as "Sure you will, you fine looking kitty cat you!" directed at Cool Cats Mom and actually every other interaction with her are very uncomfortable to watch. It always sends a shiver down my spine. Now we come to the main character, Cool Cat. Cool Cat is portrayed by "Cool Cat" (That's what the end credits say...) and the most annoying character in movie history ever... His voice is almost unbearable to listen to and he overacts all the goddamn time. Cool Cats character is narcissistic, self- righteous, self-obsessed and probably mentally challenged. Some gestures of him just make me scratch my head, for example when he wakes up after a nightmare he sits up and... masturbates? No, seriously. It looks like he is jerking off. He does it again when he's in the garden with Maria. For no reason. It's probably because the suit must be extremely hot or something, but this just didn't look right. The editing is embarrassing. In the scene where Cool Cat reaches for his pen and paper he accidentally drops a picture of himself (there are MANY pictures of himself in his room BTW) and doesn't pick it up again. In the next shot it is back up again... Just to provide an example. Another Scene would be the one where Cool Cat screams at some kids for +++SPOILER+++ painting on walls. In the background you can see a guy walking out of his house, seeing a man in a cat suit screaming at a couple of kids and slowly walking backwards again. As IHE said: "It could not be more perfect even if you tried." The massive use of comic sans doesn't help the movie either. It makes it look unprofessional and weird. At least it provided some laughs for me and the intentions of this movie were pure. The execution is very bad though. That's why I give it a 3/10. No more and no less. For me, it is hard to enjoy it even in an ironic way. With pot. And that should say something.

I will begin my review with the fact that the Academy Awards are a massive fraud. They claim to promote quality, but how could they ignore this work of art? The film that makes The Godfather look like Foodfight, Cool Cat Saves the Kids is even better than the masterpiece Birdemic. Even glimpsing anything else makes me want to wash out my eyes with ether. The costuming, the best I have ever seen, is so good they use the same suit for both Cool Cat and his mom, who could win Mr and Ms. Universe if they ran.Even the technical prowess here is astonishing. With artistically visible shadows of the cameraman and class-A animations relegating Pixar to the dust heap, audiences will remain in awe of Fred Savage, the mastermind behind Gun Safety For Women and the Cool Cat and Trolly the Trout books. Not to mention the clear winner of Best Song at the next Oscars, which Cool Cat and "Daddy Derek" are seen writing.Next, there is the unalienable message they have provided in a subtle, yet emotional way. It always teaches children (and adults!) the right thing, like responding to hate with lame comebacks! Not to mention the symbol of political corruption in the scene where Cool Cat sprints across the street without looking moments after chastising another not to. The acting here is amazing, in particular Erik Estrada whose classic lines "There he is!" and "That kid kicked sand in Cool Cat's face!" are the highlights of his deeply provoking testimony to life. Butch the Bully rightfully teaches all audiences that bullies never have any emotions other than pettiness, and, anyways, can never really hurt anyone ever. Daddy Derek is a shoo-in for Best Actor, and Director as well.I have left Cool Cat for last. My idol, my hero, the only worthwhile contribution to society! How his paws fumble with all props, what a symbol for the deep flaws of society! His artistic trippy dream sequence! What an amazing performance, ladies and gentlemen. Not to mention the plot sense, which, with Daddy Savage's vision wander all over the map, exploring every children's safety topic in the book. This life-changing movie also shows the Hollywood Parade, Gun Safety, and shows off Savage's amazing Van Halen autographed guitar. Because it was so amazing it deserved a scene. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to get plastic surgery to mimic Cool Cat's face. Bye, and remember to watch this life-changing movie.
