Truly Dreadful Film
Pretty Good
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
I wasn't familiar with the movie "Honeymoon" prior to finding it by sheer random luck. I read through the synopsis and it sounded like something that could prove interesting. And the movie also had Rose Leslie in it, and that could prove to be a plus.Right, well, I managed to endure 40 minutes of this ordeal of a movie. And nothing of any worth or interest happened in that 40 minutes, so I just gave up on the movie out of sheer and utter boredom."Honeymoon" has a very small cast, so they had to perform quite well in order to carry the movie and they did nicely enough. But they had nothing to work with in terms of script or storyline. This was a very uneventful and very boring movie.I have absolutely no intention of returning to watch the rest of the movie, because there was zero appeal in this movie for me.
HoneymoonThe scrutiny begins way too early (which is always good if the feature hits hard and fast) and is chewed off through the whole course of it (which is short and works on its favor) until few minutes before the drapes drop that results into coming off as a bit of a hoax for everything nullifies to zero in the end. The screenplay writer-director Leigh Janiak seems like a promising director with enough potential to hold the audience on their edge of the seat. Rose Leslie is decent on performance level along with Harry Treadaway who too is okayish on keeping the objective clear. Honeymoon is a jaw dropping thriller that completely relies upon writing and if it would have had better editing and smarter approach to the concept, the feature would have easily joined the major league.
Honeymoon does a great job of shifting the mood throughout the movie, but there is some awkward direction regarding the lascivious male lead and the indignation of the female lead. Their behavior doesn't feel like it plays into the plot well at times, and it makes you feel like one or the other is just flat out stupid. I felt the ending was a bit anticlimactic, but overall this movie kept me tense and entertained.
I like horror movies, though I'm not a horror movie junkie. I am even more forgiving of horror than other genres, because a lot of times there's a good premise that just gets lost in the process, or is the victim of low-budget.This movie is truly awful. Rose Leslie is awesome, she's a fine actress and obviously pretty, which is a nice bonus. But the main male actor (I don't even want to learn his name) is atrocious. Like, worse than student film bad. And the way the "twist" (if you can even call it that) plays out is garbage. This movie is a flaming dumpster on wheels, careening down a busy street, sharing its filth and flames with all. Stay far away.
