what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Ramona and Beezus (2010): Dir: Elizabeth Mitchell / Cast: Joey King, Selena Gomez, John Corbett, Bridget Moynahan, Ginnifer Goodwin: Extremely low budget family farce that bares little to the two sisters. The film is more about Ramona and her dealing with her father's job loss and the possibility of losing her home. Directed by Elizabeth Mitchell with cheap animated sequences that don't fly. I've seen better production in kindergarten art classes. Joey King is wonderful as Ramona, an elementary school student who attempts to help save her home but constantly messes up. She has charm and wit stealing every scene she is in. In that less central role in the title Selena Gomez plays sister Beezus who discovers romance resulting in predictable elements. It is a good role but the movie isn't about her nor the relationship with Ramona. She is the market item to sell the movie. John Corbett plays the father with a hidden talent amongst his optimism. Bridget Moynahan as their mother is underused. She is basically there when convenient playing the loving busy mom baring no personality. Ginnifer Goodwin is cast as an aunt in a role that is not likely to be a highlight in her budding career. Aimed at young girls who likely listen to Gomez and to that audience it may appeal but to adults it is a complete waste of time. It is very predictable and done on the cheap but its limited target audience may not care. It teaches children that being small can accomplish great things but unfortunately the story, being small and simple accomplishes absolutely nothing of any great importance. Score: 4 ½ / 10

It seemed like a too good to be true of a movie, I thought it wouldn't be as good as advertised. Mainly I wanted to watch it b/c Selena Gomez is in it, but I love it for reasons beyond her! I could also relate to her because she was closer to my age. It surprised me and got to my heart. It is definitely a feel good family type of movie. I really like the dynamic between Ramona and Beezus, and how we see them bond and their relationship develop & improve. If I see it on TV once in a while, I'm glad to watch it again. It also keeps pretty lightweight most of the time while dealing with struggles and problems. I recommend this!

Anybody who went to school knows Beverly Cleary and her wonderful series of children's novels. Besides the Ramona series of books, she wrote The Henry Huggins books and The Mouse and the Motorcycle. Along comes Ramona and Beezus, based off of her book Beezus and Ramona written in 1955. Not reading the book in years, I vaguely remember moments in it that weren't in this. I have researched to find that this film is based on the seventh book out of all the Ramona books but for some reason still has the title of the first. Strange.Moving right along, the story is about the plucky youngster named Ramona (King) and her older sister Beatrice (nicknamed Beezus, played by Gomez) trying to save their parents home by raising money to pay for bills. Their parents have been constantly fighting and their Aunt Bea has fallen for a man that she used to like when they were younger named Hobart (Duhamel). The film doesn't have one plot, it's a series of subplots that make up the entire film. The main story is just that there are two sisters, the youngster being unknowingly disruptive, and at times, a nuisance, and the other just trying to live her private life. It's a coming of age story to say the least. There are some G rated movies, you should just let be. You don't want to over critique them. Obviously they won't go into anything deeper than maybe "you loser," but sometimes you wish they would. I'm not saying vulgarity makes a movie any better, but sometimes when a movie like this is made, you want it to have some sense of realism. It can be done, but at a G rating, it's very difficult. This winds up having just enough. At least Ramona and Beezus doesn't wonder off into a cliché and bubbly world where everything is always nice. No, the statement comes up frequently, Ramona is a nuisance. She is an overactive child that needs to calm down sometimes. She means well, and doesn't want trouble, but trouble has a way of finding her. I can accept that.Beezus doesn't do much to improve the storyline. We don't really know if she really appreciates her sister or is holding back true feelings. At the beginning of the film, the relationship between them suggests they are very close, but throughout the whole film she goes back and forth to making fun of her and then loving her. Maybe a case of off the wall hormones. The premise is cute, the characters are lively, and the entertainment is here. Ramona and Beezus is what I call a "last minute movie." This is the kind of film you see a commercial for three days before it comes out on TV. Suddenly it becomes a movie weekend. This finds ways to be appreciated by all ages, and finds ways to have the right amount of realism while maintaining a squeaky clean image.Starring: Selena Gomez, Joey King, Hutch Dano, Ginnifer Goodwin, John Corbett, Bridget Moynahan, Josh Duhamel, and Sandra Oh. Directed by: Elizabeth Allen.

Ramona and Beezus is a two sister who is very familiar. their adventure to find their identity. Ramona is still the children always get into trouble when he was working on something. An older sister Beezus is a beautiful and smart and looking for true love. While the father and mother also have a conflict that usually occur in family life, namely the problem of earning a livelihood. This makes me interested. Like the really real life. Moreover, relationships with family and wrapped with romance. Everything looks complete in a movie. Very nice in watching by all ages. Except one thing is quite disturbing, that kissing scene (though without desire) seems less feasible in watching for children under age.The film stars a fairly professional players. Viewers will not be tired of seeing a fresh face. The storyline is not too flat and complex but very easy to understand. For this type of film, I give the value 8 of 10.
