An Exercise In Nonsense
How on earth did Sir Ben Kingsley get involved with making this film? It is absolutely, mind-bogglingly, horribly dreadful in every way possible - in terms of script, acting, visuals, music etc etc. I bought it (thankfully very cheaply) because Ben Kingsley was involved. He owes me 10 RMB. I should be fair and admit that I didn't actually watch until the end, but can't imagine that it improved - although it could not have got any worse. Reading the other reviews here, it seems that it didn't improve. I guess Ben Kingsley may have been doing a favour to someone in the Sri Lankan film industry, but this clearly proves that a star name alone can't make a good film. How on earth the IMDb score is 4.7 (it may be less now), I can't possibly imagine.
I have just become a member of IMDb purely after watching this terrible movie in a attempt to bring the overall rating closer to zero. This was undoubtedly the worst movie I have ever paid to see and feel considerably cheated by the fact that it was even available for hire.I must congratulate the producers for somehow persuading Ben Kingsley to appear in this film and producing a cover that conned me into thinking that it may be somewhat entertaining. I am afraid to say that my trip to the video store is considerably longer since I now check all ratings on IMDb before I decide to hire.I will be satisfied if at least one potential viewer puts this DVD back on the shelf on the strength of this review.
This movie was so terrible that I was so surprised that how could it turn out to be, with an actor like Ben. But then I realized that the whole production team and the cast was just horrible, so there's no surprise that it was an epic failure.Made me wonder whether they did have a casting session before selecting the cast or at least even read the script twice! Why didn't they go for Sri Lankan actors? Instead, they had to go for people who called themselves actors, only god knows from where they were picked up from.Major blow to Sri Lanka and as a Sri Lankan, I am quite crossed about making this movie. I hope people will not think bad about Sri Lankan movies, because we produce many good movies which goes and wins foreign movie festival awards. But among them, here this is, smearing mud on our faces.Absolutely horrible. Cannot give 0. So I'm giving 1 out of 10.
It's a mix between a Bruce Lee knock off and Chips. Awful, but will make you laugh for about 30 seconds if you can give it that long. I give it a 2 because there is some amusement in the dubbing. Seeing Ben Kingsley at the beginning suggests that there will be some sort of tension, setting up the film for something good. Sadly, it does not happen. I am pretty sure that the police chief was Spocks father in the most recent Star Trek film, seeing him also gave me some hope for the film, again..nope. Ultimately, not sure what the plot twist is. Can't watch the whole thing. Wish I didn't have to write 10 lines to get this review posted as Chips and Bruce Lee knock off really would sum it up for most folks.
