X-Men: First Class
Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were arch-enemies, they were closest of friends, working together with other mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known.

Too much of everything
For all the hype it got I was expecting a lot more!
Excellent, smart action film.
Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
In essence this is a great film. Good script and really swell acting - all very well cast, specifically Xavier and Eric. Plus, a few unexpected story lines and character arcs. Fight scenes that made sense - like two flying mutants (though with different abilities) fighting in the air. There was a lot of international touches that made it authentic. Honestly, for someone just getting introduced to X Men, this would make a great first film to watch. It explains mutations and how to develop them (in the school in previous films, we've only seen them learn history and language arts etc) and you really get to see the mutants improving their skills. However: I'm tired of the trope that it's wrong to kill someone who's going to hurt other people. Nazis, and their doctors who experiment on people, deserve death and worse. There's no need to spare them and pretend it's kindness. And if someone kills someone who's about to start a nuclear war, they're a hero not a monster. And Xavier should have known that "they're just following orders" is the wrong excuse, especially to a broken concentration camp survivor. Also, Beast's face was subpar. Not good. And Magneto in a cape?Lastly, the continuity with other X Men films is bad. For example, from the first trilogy, I'd never have realized how close Xavier and Mystique once were. But on the plus side, this film is really good at showing how Eric and Mystique's relationship developed, as well as Eric and Xavier's - that's one of its greatest accomplishments, although I expected them to have been friends for many years, not months. On the down side, as much as it showed how the mutants became themselves - Eric's story was better than I could have hoped - it's hard to imagine from this that Eric would one day abandon Mystique in a truck, because she lost her mutation. Another glaring lack of continuity is that previous films showed an adult Xavier walking, but here he lost use of his legs way younger. Still, if you can ignore all that, it is a well done film I enjoyed watching.
Considering this franchise started before I was even born I only in the past few years have started to watch all of the X-Men movies I have seen X Men, X2 X Men United, X-Men orgins Wolverine, Logan, and this one. Besides X Men United this was my favorite. I loved the story and the acting was incredible I saw this movie on a plane ride earlier today and was so excited while watching it. The franchise may be falling apart because of the New Mutants and Dark Phoenix. But this one was very good. The character development, story, and overall the acting was so good. Not to mention Wolverines funny as hell cameo!
The pacing of the first half of the movie is so fast that it's the responsible for all the movie's flaws; the motivations for joining the team aren't convincing or rather they made all the mutants aren't different from each others (actually it is one motivation that you should understand yourself), the humor didn't work for me (despite the fact that the jokes aren't bad at all) and the dull dialogue between the villain and the heroes revealed all the evil plans. But actually this very pacing made this movie one of the most entertaining superhero movies I've ever seen. Also, all these flaws are only in the first half of the movie as I said and they are nothing if we compared them to the many positives of this movie; the visuals are stunning, all the performances are great (specially from McAvoy and Fassbender as well as their characters), Magneto's dramatic scenes in this movie maybe are the best in the entire franchise, the cheesiness in this movie is amiable and amusing, even the humor gets much more better in the second half of the movie. the action sequences are stylish and the plot is simple but strong. without a doubt it's one of my favorite X-Men movies.
X-Men: First Class is the first film of the X-Men series that we seen start which released few more sequels. This film tells the origin story of how the superheroes became what they were and shows how it all started. The film is fast paced but at times slows down to show the in depth details of each character. Of all the things that went right with this film, was casting of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as the young versions Patrick Stewart's Xavier and Ian McKellen's Magneto respectively. Bringing the dramatic polish they honed on such films as Atonement and Hunger, they give soul and believability to what could otherwise have been a tragic, worthless repeat of the empty. Overall First Class was a successful and engaging start to a successful franchise which has grown over the years.
