There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
This wonderful film for family viewing is based on the story by David Gerrold. It is interesting that in reality we do not know what here fantasy is and what is true, because the author really had a foster son. At first glance, the plot of the film seems trivial. The protagonist David Gordon decided to fill the void after the loss of his beloved wife and decides to adopt a child. Subsequently, like many others, he had problems in raising a child. However, everything is not as usual, and it's not even that the boy considers himself a Martian, the film is much deeper. Throughout the film, we see an unusual kinship between the souls of the adopted boy Dennis and his "father" David. People are always attracted to people like them and it's very amazing. The film also reveals the theme that each person is a separate universe that adapts in the world and that it is important not to forget about it. I would like to note the work of the main actors, who with painstaking precision were able to convey the wonderful atmosphere of the film and its main idea. This film is really worth watching and I highly recommend this film for parents and people who are going to make a family.
"Martian Child" is a 2007 American family drama film directed by Menno Meyjes and written by David Gerrold based on his 1994 novelette of the same name. John Cusack's excellent portrayal of a writer, David, who decides to adopt a young boy, Dennis (played by Bobby Coleman), who thinks himself to be an alien from Mars. The film was released on November 2, 2007. The film puts in great efforts to show the difficulties of upbringing a child. The merge of an "alien" nature of Dennis and the adult, reasonable nature of his guardian David is depicted in a wonderful, not-too-sappy-and-not-too-casual way. You will find yourself smiling, crying, freaking out and laughing while watching them bonding and developing trust and love to each other. Another significant theme of "Martian Child" is finding yourself and your true identity. Shall we stand out and allow ourselves to let out all our weirdness once in a while or should we blend in as much as possible? Is there any so called "right way" to be a human? It wouldn't be that much of a spoiler to say that the film has a clear answer to all these questions: however "normal" the facade you maintain around other people to stay safe and not made fun of may be, people who truly love you will appreciate all the little dorky features you have. To sum up, watch "Martian Child" at your own risk - at the risk of having a good time, discovering something awfully kind and maybe even shedding an embarrassing amount of happy tears (but only if you're in the mood for that).
A magical movie!Yes, this is far from fiction. Rather, on the contrary, the film is incredibly realistic. And do not let it find exciting turns, rapid development of events, large-scale special effects, but it will definitely leave a mark on your soul. Each of us is a whole world, a vast universe, incomprehensible to absolutely nobody except ourselves. How often do we have to exchange this precious abode for a stereotyped set of masks that allow us to meet the expectations of others; and how often we, having reconciled ourselves to the pain of loss, break the same deep and pure worlds of our innocent children. Being yourself is not a crime! And if there is something wrong with the child's world, it is not necessary to pull it out from there with all the might, because you can just pick up the key to it.I was touched to the depth of my soul by the game of John Cusack. He is a great actor, and this is one of his most successful roles in the movie, in my opinion.Beautiful, sad and very touching movie! One of those that makes you seriously think about life after viewing. It seems to me, he is quite worthy
The film Martian Child after reading the title gives a lot of ideas what it is going to be about. Either it is about space, or an astronaut or a child doing something unusual. My third idea was pretty close to the content of the film. I liked the film very much. It brought so many thought to my mind, made me cry and persuaded that there is always a hope, even for a little creature on the Earth to find that right person. The genre of the film is drama plus comedy. You can laugh at the actors or you can cry at the emotions they evoke. The film is about an orphan Denis, who as he says came from Mars and a man, a writer, who decided to adopt Denis. He was left by his parents when he was very small and probably he told everybody that he was from Mars because he believed that his parents were there. He tried to conceal the pain that he understood when he grew older that in that orphanage he was absolutely alone and tried to convince himself that there, on Mars, he has somebody. He was the alien on the Earth and didn't have anyone to rely on. So the film shows all the problems and obstacles that can appear between adults and children, the sorrow that can experience a person and how this person struggles against it, loneliness and the fear to stay alone. I adored acting by the starring actors John Cusack and Bobby Coleman. They were so plausible and sincere, so emotional and persuading that they made the film even tenderer. So, I would say that this is a typical drama with happy ending that make people believe in good. I would recommend watching this film with your family to have good time and experience some new emotions. The rating I would give is 8 out of 10.
