The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

I seriously hope this will be the last Insidious movie. I love the first insidious but they are getting worse with each movie. The last key is not only a bad insidious movie, but a bad movie overall. They crank up the sound effects of jumpscares so loud your neighbors will jump out of their chairs . Every time I had to turn the volume down, but then I couldn't hear the dialog so I had to turn it up and AHHHHHHHH!!!! great another cardiac arrest. The movie is shallow and has no feel to it. The comic relief duo are not funny and the scariest thing about this movie is the fat guy's mullet. The demon looks like a dumbass and the last 15 minutes makes no sense.

I think I maybe I was startled once- The storyline is good. Dialogue is good. Some characters are a bit cheesy but I think thats supposed to keep it from being too serious or a tension release. The first one I saw from this series. Effects/makeup for the entities are rather good.

...Except that they have cut out a few scenes seen in the trailer. For instance: that one with the "This waaaay" part, it is not seen in the film, thus making the trailer misleading. Further-more, there a repeating template in it. Every film in the franchise revolves around astral attacks and going on the astral plane trying to diminish the whatever entity is attacking. It was a mind-blowing experience seeing it in the first film, but every time since then - it becomes boring. I want something NEW to see with the next installments (if there is going to be any?). Anyhow, during watching this one, I thought to myself: "Insidious is back on track", I now hope it does not go off that track once again. As some one said in a review on another web site: "Insidious is exhausting itself". I all the more think he is right. So my message to James Wan and Leigh Whannell is - make Insidious re-invent itself. The astral world is far more than what the franchise depicted thus far.

It looks like it was supposed to be more than just your average horror sequel and it has a drama plot line which deals with a heavy subject. This plot line is a main reason to watch the movie, plus for the main lead, she is a great actress. The horror part is beyond stupid and overcliched. And the "monsters" (called just "evil spirits") just really do "BO!!!" in the camera, like some children trying to scare each other on the night in the summer camp.It also has some really awkward comedy elements for some reason and an abrupt sugary ending in spirit of Scooby-Doo episodes. It looks like they made two versions of the credits sequence and they...used both. It looks awkward as well, but I understand why they wanted to show both since both of look great and interesting, especially the one before the final credits.
