The Chaos Class

Lazy, uneducated students mostly coming from money, share a very close band. They live together in the dormitory of this private highschool, where they daily plan their latest pranks on teachers or the other classes. When a new and obviously strict headmaster arrives, the students naturally try to overthrow him. A comic war of nitwits follows.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.

horse Shiite: This classic Turkish film (although some might wonder at this mainstream movie being called a film) is etched permanently into the psyche of Turkish culture. It's such a shame that there's no kind of film preservation society in Turkey. No One realizes that this film is going to disappear within the next decade or two. If I'm ever successful I've made a promise to my childhood that I'll find a good print of this film and put efforts forward to restore it and preserve it in various formats so that my kids and their kids can one day see it.

This is a classic old Turkish movie which I as a Turkish person enjoy very much watching over and over again. But I understand it may not be as enjoyable to everybody especially if one is not grow up in Turkey.I think the reason why we found funny after all these years is we had similar experiences in high school as well. For most of us high school friendships are very special. As children we all bonded over against teachers or any authority in general then. We all ditched the school to go movies or a football games. We all cheated in some extend in our exams. We all gave nicknames to friends and teachers. We all had some very odd/funny teachers and we all had one way or other some very strict, serious, smart teacher whom effected us very much but we didn't like him/her at time. Also I guess every class has someone like Saban (cow); very naive student whom all class make fun of. Or Necmi or Tarik or Hayri. Also when they were shooting this movie they had very limited budget then, therefore in all class only three students are played by real actors. The rest were found out by newspaper adverts. So in order to give the feeling; people made to play football together for real, even sleep at the same dormitory in night for a time. The football scenes in the movie is real as well. I think when people watch it they feel like in high school again, like seeing old friends. I know I do.

this is number one of Turkish film industry. I think this movie must be translated in all languages on the world. Also in this movie we can see famous comedians together. Movie's favorite character is Kemal Sunal(Inek Saban)(Cow Saban). He was an important actor(comedian) in Turkish Cinema. Watch and be full of fun. One of the greatest figures of Turkish cinema Münir Özkul and Adile Nasit take their parts as "Kel" Mahmut and Hafize Ana. Hababam is a never-aging movie. The movie is full of hilariously funny scenes of the students' adventures.Speaking for myself, I must admit that this is my favorite movie of all time and even the movie is played on TV a million times, I never get bored seeing it again and again. I guess none of you would either.

This is really a film for people living in Turkey or in Turkish culture. It's about as beloved in Turkey as Casablanca is in the US and it follows the tradition of the St. Trinian's films from the 1950's with naughty disruptive, but lovable high school kids. There's nothing new about the characters, the same basic ones that appear in films from most any culture. Think The Dead End Kids in the 70's. In the US, Welcome Back Kotter leaps to mind. Unfortunately time has not been kind to this film. The production values are pretty well dated, the soundtrack is off, splicing is a bit abrupt. If you don't know who the actors are and how famous it is, then you're missing 75% of the film. The film is about a group of students who have repeatedly failed their classes at a boarding school. There is the usual mother figure at the school and the strict disciplinarian who tried to install respect and dignity to the "kids." The actors appearing in the film are among the most famous in Turkey, but that doesn't do anything for the rest of the world unfortunately. The jokes also don't translate as many of them are word-plays on Turkish words and phrases. But for Turks, it is one of the most beloved films from the classic 70's Yesilcam Sinemasi period. Watch it with an open mind and for sociological interest. You'll see nothing that you haven't seen in your own country in 100 different films, but it's a insight into what Turks enjoy in their cinema. By the way Arsenal1988, there are just over 75 million people in Turkey, not over 100 million.
