Sorry, this movie sucks
Admirable film.
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
This movie was on a list for best animated films from the 80's so I hunted down a copy and gave it a watch. Meh. The plot isn't anything special. A few international criminals trick the Chipmunks and their female counterparts into smuggling diamonds all over the world as part of an 'Around the world in 80 days' hot air balloon race. Whatever, we are talking about the animation and it is remarkably good until about a little more than halfway into the film where it becomes noticeably generic. I'm guessing they started running out of time and pulled a rush job on the second half of the film. Plus they threw in a penguin side story involving the girls just to balance out the Witch Doctor hammer-on with the guys. And all the Chipmunks sound the same, regardless of gender. But whatever, this is a kids film so you can not be too hard in it. But I just wish the animation was consistent throughout the whole film.
i think it is great one of my favourite films as a kid and who said there songs were unforgettable they were mint i can still remember them now WORD FOR WORD the film remains a favourite with my family and my younger cousins are now addicted to it too they even know the songs this film is great and a enjoyable film for kids it has a moral lesson so don't say its not good because it shows how lying gets you nowhere ill leave with a parting comment: this film is amazing love me xxx P.s i would like the soundtrack but i cant and yes the animation is good the jokes are humorous and the action never stops. This film will go down in children's film history and in my opinion one of the only remaining safe films to show children.
I loved this movie when I was a kid. I saw it theatrically. Randy Edelman did a good composition of the soundtrack. David Seville is the Chipmunks' father and recording manager. The Chipmunks consist of Alvin, who is best known for playing the harmonica, Simon, who is a bright and studious chipmunk & Theodore, who is the youngest and is always hungry. There is a lady known as Miss Miller, who looks after the chipmunks and has 3 daughters known as Brittany, Jeanette & Eleanor, who all have the same character as the Chipmunks. My favourite songs from this soundtrack include "Diamond Dolls", The Girls of Rock & Roll", & the touching "My Mother". Alvin really wanted to see Europe when Dave had to go there for business. The Chipmunks meet the Chipettes playing the Around the World in 30 days video game which led them to race each other doing the real thing.
Its been over 9 years and I still remember one musical number where the Chipette's and Chipmunks both have sing to each other in a battle. I cant remember the song, but do I remember the place and how Eleanor and Jeanette had to hold on to Brittany before she fell out of the balloon and the same with Theodore and Simon to Alvin...man that was such a good movie. To think I saw it when I was 5 or 6 and I still remember it. I couldn't remember the whole plot, but I remember Alvin signing them all up to race around the world in balloons.A great movie for a child and a child at heart. I would even be willing to see it again. And I can assure you that I would still love it. I think I'm gonna go rent it. Just remember: Its a good thing to hold on to your childish roots and enjoy it from time to time.
