When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
City-boy Raymond returns to his hometown and finds a vengeful ghost is terrorizing his house. Therefore, this man-child recruits Becca, a badass local bartender, to solve the mystery of the spirit threatening people's lives. Suburban Gothic has a pretty weird sense of humor and not the good kind of it, the perfomances were pretty awful and i really didn't like the main character. This Comedy, Horror film is very unfunny but also terribly cheesy and even disgusting at times and a bunch of known actors can't save a pretty bad script. (0/10)
I have always thought this film had involved the best actors in the world. They have done the sarcasm so brilliantly that you would just laugh out loud to yourself or even be curious if you think what they meant! Raymond had that caring personality for his family including his sexy goth friend Becca and his stupid uptight father. I really liked his scarf collection, they really suit the actor and character. He should appear for a men fashion magazine, just saying. Kat Dennings as Becca looked really pretty in Gothic style. They look really suits her, she should keep that style more often! I also liked how they gave her a bad girl attitude. She probably hid her feelings for Raymond and honestly they are so cute together! I'm glad there was romance involved in the ending.Ray Wise was brilliant playing the dad. He's a character who you would love to hate but deep down, he wants his son to do well like any other father would. He kinda reminds me of my own father. It was too bad the mother and himself divorced but you have to admit, he was pretty much a control freak. This movie will break your jaws from laughter, go watch it!
Matthew Gray Gubler was fantastic in this as a young man out of step with his father and his home town, but who continues to be unapologetically himself, despite the consequences. His fear responses (screaming, running and hiding) and his quick-witted responses to insults had me laughing out loud. The exchanges between his character Ray and his father were funny despite how totally awful his dad was. I really enjoyed the romantic elements too because they didn't seem overdone. I loved Ray's speech to the particularly obnoxious girl in his father's class and Ray and Becca's hilarious lack of grace after the penultimate scene. Really good fun that I highly recommended. I look forward to watching it again.
It's called Suburban Gothic for a reason. There may not seem to be a real goal or something this movie is heading towards (none the main character can see at least), but the ride we take with it, is so much fun, that you might not care. Ray Wise is exceptional as the bad father figure, setting the tone early on. But in a very funny way, so that you can't really be mad at him.Humor is something that is hard to grasp or be sure about. Like obviously this is awkward and weird in a way, that will either entice the viewer or appall them. Kat Dennings seem to be shoe-in for the role she's playing, because we've seen her play similar characters before. Without knowing her you could be fooled into thinking that it's very close to who she really is. But no matter if that is true or not, this movie thrives on her and every other actor, who play their role exceptionally
