the temptation to blame/minimize this film is not small. and it is the result, in general, of hypocrisy. because it is not exactly a provocative /easy film but vehicle for an interesting hypothesis. because it gives real good performances and a story who is more than pretext for hot scenes. because it is a film about marriage, temptation and the thin line between teacher and student. because it is a simple film about happiness. and, maybe, nothing more. so, a nice film , more complex than majority of its public accept.

I was lucky enough to watch "A Night in Heaven" in 1984, when it was shown in my country. I loved this film. Every time I have a chance, I review it, since I bought a copy in VHS a couple of years ago from a store that sells oldies in Ft. Laud. I don't know why, but watching it always lifts my spirits. Maybe it's because I was in my early twenties then, could relate to Christopher Atkins's character, and also, because I recall being in some of the places shown in the film. I think a especial edition should come out in DVD, including the parts which were edited, because it should have been a little longer. For instance,developing more the part when Whitney encounters and old friend. (Did he have an affair with her?). Was that the motive that made him accept the situation of his wife having an encounter with Ricky Rocket? Anyway,for me it was a great film, one I can keep watching over and over for years to come. Plus, great music and score from Bryan Adams.

Lesley Ann Warren is a very good actress, she appears in A NIGHT IN HEAVEN as a beautiful evergreen woman. If the movie itself is not unforgettable, the Warren's part is a thing you always remember. The love scene with actor Christopher Atkins is very well filmed and give the image of a soft erotism. Unfortunately, the movie was not imported in france (I have bought the cassette by amazon). Good surprise too is to hear canadian pop singer Bryan Adams in the score.

I know that a lot of people who write reviews always try to find some deeper meaning and/or raised consciousness from the silver screen. However, some movies appeal to nothing more than our base instincts.In this case, there is not a guy reading this that hasn't fantasized about a good looking teacher. On the other hand, there probably are no female teachers who did not find a single young man as attractive, appealing, and worthy of a few fantasies herself.That's all this movie represents. I think that's all it ever meant to be. I enjoyed it - but then again I think Lesley-Ann Warren is hot!
