I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
I was intrigued by this film when my Tivo decided to record it.I almost deleted it without watching, but I decided to take a chance and sit through it.I found myself fast-forwarding through the lamest dialog I've ever heard. And the little sub-plot about Matty Liu getting sick is completely out of place. The whole bit seems like it was dropped in by a different writer in order to fill out the length of the film. I just couldn't find any substance to this movie. I suppose it's because I'm not a waverider. With that said, the movie really is visually compelling in two ways. The shots of giant waves and the landscapes are absolutely gorgeous. And Shane Dorian and Matty Liu are two completely beautiful young men.
I have watched this movie several times on DVD, and always get more out of each timeThe cinematography is superb, giving a real feel for the surfing experience and the story of this troupe of surfers moving around the globe is a joy.I think the dramatic content is enough to make the movie stand in its own right, and the surfing footage is some of the best I have seenGet it on DVD and enjoy
I love this movie. How could I not, ok so Shane Dorian isn't exactly a wonderful actor, but just the struggles that he shows for his friends while they are sick and hurting are great. Matt George was one of the collaborators on this film, so this wonderful surfer was able to put into words how everyone should feel about this sport, or even better, this way of life. Matty Liu is the one who worked with King and showed him where to shoot, and who to know. The story behind the making of this movie, including the surfing careers of its stars, and what was going on during filming, can be just as wonderful as the movie.
This is a movie that is the best I've ever seen. And the surf sequences is simply the best! It's excellent!!!!!! That's all folks.
