Surprisingly incoherent and boring
Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
This movie is sweeter than candy! You may recognize Ruechang as Shang Tsung from mortal kombat and other fine film roles. Dolph Lundgren also truly at peak performance in this masterpiece of action. A perfect example of when the acting is so bad it becomes amazing. You don't quite know slow motion action sequences until you have seen this beautiful collection of fighting. Warning this movie is a cream dream and if you aren't quite up to the challenge you should not attempt to watch it all in one sitting. Grade A effort. Not only does this movie provide you with these gems of action but it also has a story line that only the wisest of writers could form. The movie takes place in an era where the past meets the present, which apparently translates to cheesy renaissance costumes mixed with the weaponry of the 80s. Wow absolute genius!
I caught this movie somewhere around 3 in the morning on late-night television. Bleary-eyed and unable to go back to sleep, I decided to give it a chance. And I fell in love. Here's my summary: The plot is basically nonexistent. The action is good. The acting is... well, it's fairly standard B movie acting. Bruce Campbell would be proud.Go in expecting a bad action movie, and you'll enjoy this to no end. Go in expecting a Hollywood blockbuster, and you may as well gouge out your eyes, 'cause you're going to get just as much pleasure from that.God, I love this movie.
This film is nothing short of disastrous. For a start you will be unclear in which era it is set such are the inconsistencies of military hardware, some 20th century, some possibly from the future but you can't tell! In terms of story its the usual goodguy versus badguy fare, although Dolph Lundgren really excels in his portrayal of a human tree. His emotions are so laboured and unconvincing that you have to question whether he is even capable of moving his face! The action scenes are utterly unbelievable and can only be described as silly. The film is staggeringly unrealistic and nobody displays any traces of acting ability. Yet for comic value its worth a look, if only to pity how low Dolph has sunk since Rocky IV. Best watched with enormous amounts of booze and a roomful of mates to keep the laughter flowin!
This movie can be classified as a comedy too, because the acting of the nanny and that justice look on Dolph's eyes are funny to death. Wanna see Dolph in a better film, watch Showdown in Little Tokyo. Speaking of this one,It would be better if instead of Tia Carerre was Valerie Chow in the female lead role, because she is talented and truly gorgeous as few of Chinese actresses are(Kelly Chen and Chingmy Yau,for example, are beautiful, but Ruby Lin???Pinky Cheung???ARGH!). She is so pretty that only for her this crap is worth seeing. I think this is one of the few movies in which she has the lead role.I don't really know why such absurd happens, but I believe It's because of her obvious beauty! But Yet,I don't understand It!
