This is not worth watching because it is not a good film but as unintentionally hilarious as some scenes get this is not worth watching because it is not a bad film either. It is merely the epitome of what every recent mediocre home invasion thriller/horror can aspire to be.I will say that the lead actress puts across an admirable performance however it is testimony to this films poor writing that I was even rooting for her demised before the credits rolled and that I think is the true downfall of this film, the writing. The story would be at least passable if not for the cliché ridden scrip which thought it was more intelligent than it was:The leads: This film had it all Macho idiot male lead with no sense or intelligence to back up the bravado - Check. Irredeemably inept female lead who despite inciting my sympathies at the outset soon made it clear she couldn't think her way to the end of a finished crossword - Check. Annoying as hell child who I am supposed to want to see back into the loving embrace of his father but I'd rather see into the cold jaws of a combine-harvester - Check check checkity check. The villains: For about thirty seconds of this film Mr Mouse and co are serviceable villains but as the film goes on Miss Piggy soon proves herself the idiot Moriarty to Katharine Isabelle's Brainless Sherlock (Seriously you heard her in the basement, go check the damned basement). Mr Mouse thou physically imposing is hard not to laugh at when he starts talking, I'm just not sure if it is funnier because of the gravelled voice of this mouse or because of the nonsensical dialogue he spouts. I mean come on I'm waiting for you to "Tell the truth" When creating the reasoning behind these characters which did the writer run out of first: time, inclination, or his magic thinking herbs. Oh and as far as the I guess shock fourth villain seeing as we were left with a stuffed animal's head and a teenage girl both unaccounted for you'd have to be a character in this film not to see that coming. And for the final twist(s): What?, how?, wait why do I care ? My last point not bagging on the writing this time is the element of suspense in this film. That is "suspense" a term this film has heard of without understanding, the film has also heard how certain shots build suspense without understanding how that works either. "What's that?" said the lead cinematographer to a GCSE level film student "If you hold a shot after the action is gone it builds suspense? Great for the first 2 thirds of the film lets make every second shot do that occasionally there will be a point to it and occasionally not, y'know to keep the audience guessing that's what suspense is right ?" Also I'm off the opinion shakey cam can get bent as a whole from cinema for a few years at this point let alone poorly done shakey cam for one shot. And the time we wait outside the loo while the main character freshens up not suspense building it just feels like you left the camera running. In conclusion this is a badly shot sub par "film" that lacks in story and fails to endear any of the characters to you to the point where you'd quite like peter rabbit to shoot the protagonists and although he'd probably miss, they might trip and break their necks anyway. And the writer shouldn't write anything longer than a birthday card in future.(well that was cathartic)

Torment may sound like another submission to the growing "torture porn" sub-genre of horror, but don't let the name fool you, this is an old-fashioned scary movie. New family comes home, only to be attacked and tormented by a cult-like psychopathic family. Think "You're Next", only without useless characters begging to be killed off. Also without the ridiculousness. The movie does a great job creating believability in everything that happens. There's almost no stupid mistakes or decisions, and the killers are just as mortal as anyone. A good deal of time is spent with them looking for the family, not just suddenly appearing behind them wherever they may be. This movie has some real suspense. They even come up with inventive ways to explain old horror movie standbys. Why won't the car start? (Spoiler) Because they took out the battery for tormenting their victims. (End spoiler). Some may complain about the lack of backstory for the killers. Personally, haven't we heard them all by now? Everything we need to know about these psychos is here, everything else is just decoration. As for the family, which features the always charming Katharine Isabelle as a new step-mom; the early scenes do a great job setting up drama efficiently. It isn't a huge thing, just a personal story that takes a turn for the wicked. Torment is a great Halloween flick.

This film received a low score from me because elements robbed me from the experience. For a thrilling home invasion film, I recommend 1997 Austrian "Funny Games" or for a confusing maze of mystery and assumption, 2007 Spanish (Spain) "Timecrimes" and for a strange and intense family in crisis, a family in conflict film, I recommend 2009 Greek film "Dogtooth". **Spoiler Alert** I'd love to be a resource for writers and directors, (like that'll ever really happen), because I see flaws in reasoning and or in filming which swoops me right out of the moment from enjoying the presentation to critiquing it, for example: 1) How is a perfectly round opening made in a cellar door, and furthermore how is it accomplished with an ax? 2) Nailing the wood boards on the underside, inside of the cellar doors is not a reasonable thing to do because it is easily pressed down since the nails are in freshly milled lumber and would readily slip out of weathered wood, and logistically will loosen the existing door material before it will be successfully installed, thus standing in the open door, nailing into the outside of damaged door would be more practical, and still allow the woman to later silently push the boards outward to escape. 3) Vocalization summons the enemy, the enemy leaves and yet woman continues with vocalization! Surprisingly, the enemy doesn't return. 4) Breathing inside a loose plastic bag: after several erratic breaths, the bag shifts, enough material sucks into the mouth, and can easily be scizered off because even an itty bitty amount of plastic bitten off in the front teeth is plenty to breathe through. 5) Once a weapon is used to subdue an enemy to the point of assumed death, why would a victim put the rock down on the dock? Wouldn't it stay in the hand? Wouldn't fear and adrenaline cause us to carry it with us to be used again as needed? … annoying, but I kept hoping it would get better since we all make mistake, and was teased into believing it might get better by nice elements such as covering her mouth to keep quiet. The "dad" character was a fun surprise.

The Strangers is one of my favorite horror films -- unrelenting tension after the first 15 minutes or so. This film has no tension whatsoever. Just a dysfunctional family being stalked by, well, strangers. I should have gone by the low IMDb user rating and saved my money. Strictly amateur night as far as the filmmaking and way too much time is devoted to how much the kid dislikes his stepmother. A few cuts and this could have actually been a Lifetime Channel movie. Seriously. It barely earns it R rating as most of the horror scenes take place off camera. And the masked strangers are not the least bit frightening whereas they were horrifying and very mysterious in The Strangers. The creeps here wear bunny rabbit costumes, for goodness sake! Bugs Bunny cartoons deliver more thrills than this crap. Plus, you never fear the family is in any real danger from the bunnies. Avoid this one like the plague.
