Brilliant and touching
It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
I would have given this three stars if not for the infuriating padded reviews. After reading the director/lead actor's bio, it is clear he is behind it. Shame on you!Make no mistake, folks, this movie is bad. Bad acting: Our padding culprit is not the worst of them, but to put it in perspective it looks like casting was done impromptu at the food court of the local mall in the morning and shooting began that the afternoon. Directing: Not awful, average at best. Set design: hit and miss, mostly miss. Costumes: fair to good. Editing: awful. Gaps, gaps, gaps or was that just the bad screenplay? It skips from scene to scene. You have to have seen the oldies to fill in the blanks. It became too exhausting. Costumes: pretty good. Makeup: blah, but i think i saw a pal conversion so hard to tell. Special effects: Hmmm. At first I was like, what? This looks worse than the effects of Sinbad in the 70's. This drew me in a little. Nostalgia, I guess, but it got old fast.Meh!
I watched this movie the old fashion way, at a movie theater in February when it was released and at the Regal Majestic Stadium 20 in D.C. I am a huge Sinbad fan, and have been waiting for this. My honest to goodness review is:My first impression was it gave me a sense of nostalgia (which I loved) and same goes for my wife. I loved the stop animation VFX, it was obviously done to preserve and showcase the old Sinbad glory days. I would highly advise you check it out and form your own "real' thoughts. I had a smile on my face when I stood up. I don't want to give the story away, I would recommend you see it for yourself. Some of the negative reviews for this movie seemed based on misplaced, misperceived false reviews in order to expand hate. Seems more like false rhetoric than real reviews. In my opinion it was a well crafted genre film with a little bit of old school film making in it.
After reading all the football weird reviews on here, my mind was mixed. So I decided to check out Sinbad myself out at theaters cause of all the hype i was reading. I was of course worried to say the least. So at the theater I was not expecting to like it, just was curious. However I was pleasantly shocked and surprised when I got into it. WOW! Keep reading. My thoughts were, Sinbad the 5th voyage is a pleasant escape from modern films, it uses a combo of new VFX and traditional animation. A real reviewer would have noticed at least that part of this concept. Meaning some of the reviews seem to be, um-mm, shall we say 'not so sincere'?? lollAnyways, overall this is a great movie for young and old alike, and great experience and would recommended to anyone. 10+IF anyone has anything to say about this being a fake review you know where my mail box is.God bless and see you at the movies! :))
I was worried to say the least, after seeing all the bad reviews for the film. So I went into the cinema not expecting a lot if anything as most other reviews are 4's and 3's. Once the film started I was getting into learning about the characters etc. After about 30 minutes the film begins properly and after this point I was on the edge of my seat for the rest of the film. Coming to the end I found it a bit predictable not expecting to be surprised by a sudden plot twist. All though the film was really OK I felt it dragged in certain bits.Buying it on DVD definitely wouldn't be a waste of time.Overall this is a great movie for 16+ and would recommended to anyone.
