To me, this movie is perfection.
This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
Overrated and overhyped
From my favorite movies..
Ideologies collide with fatal results when a military drone contractor meets an enigmatic Pakistani businessman. Drone had an action packed trailer but the end result is a boring dinner with Sean Bean drinking alot and like a 10 minute reveal with him and his job and his wife and son held hostage from the pakistan dude who was supposed to have a bomb but he doesn't? Overall the movie was boring as hell and the perfomances weren't even that good and it took alot of time to go into the whole 'hostage' thing and i hated the casting in the wife character and the son to be honest the acting wasn't that good to begin with. (3/10)
I like Sean Bean, and with most actors I really like, I will watch every movie they make. This will require some forgiveness on my part because not all movies are worth watching. This one stinks. First we have the perception that these drone dudes have such great reception from half way around the world. And next that there is no delay of data (even loading on-line movies over the Internet takes a few seconds). So back to this movie. The person playing Sean's wife and the person playing Sean's son are people who should be sent back to their other life immediately. Granted, the cheesy lines they are given to read are bad but so are Bean's lines and he pulls them off, not great but heck it's just an attempt to provide enough entertainment to make money, it has no moral purpose as a movie. The story line is shaky. The situations are a stretch. The people with roles who over act and overreact to the small situations (baseball to windshield) are enough alone to turn you away from this film. Skip this one
When I looked at the poster I thought: A war movie focusing on drone warfare. Sean Bean in there made me watch it. I was quite surprised to find a drama that addresses real issues. And quite a poignant one as well. The pace of the movie and the initial suspense created carried through very well. The score I found to be exceptional, building the drama subtly but methodically. Yes, there are many places it could have been better. But overall a good watch with a well-told story that builds to a surprising climax. Patrick Sabongui was excellent. I would love to see him in deeper movies, as he has the talent to achieve much more (than Flash and Shooter). I would rate this as a good family movie, as it makes you think about the world we live in. Intolerance, building International tensions and as Roger Waters aptly said: "The bravery of being out of range".
I am a huge fan of Sean Bean and thought that his acting in this was it's only saving grace. The wife and son characters were barely watchable. I had to fast forward through all of the scenes with the son in them. He was difficult to watch. I was able to get through the whole movie, but by the end, I didn't seem to care about the characters or the story line. I think that giving it a 2 rating was very generous.
