2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams
When this year's round of unsuspecting Northerners fail to show up for their annual Guts N' Glory Jamboree, the residents of Pleasant Valley take their cannibalistic carnival on the road and head to Iowa where they encounter spoiled heiresses Rome & Tina Sheraton and the cast and crew of their "Road Rascals" reality show. Performing "The Bloodiest Show on Earth", our Southern Maniacs prove more than ratings killers in what John Landis has called "one of the rare sequels that surpasses the original".

A waste of 90 minutes of my life
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
When this year's round of unsuspecting Northerners fail to show up for their annual Guts and Glory Jamboree, the residents of Pleasant Valley take their cannibalistic carnival on the road. They head to Iowa where they encounter heiresses Rome and Tina Sheraton and the cast and crew of their "Road Rascals" reality show. Performing "The Bloodiest Show on Earth", the Southern Maniacs prove more than ratings killers......As many people have stated on their reviews, he first movie was a lot of fun, and was one of the better exploitation remakes, so yes, I was really looking forward to this movie, despite the negativity. The alarm bells started ringing as soon as the cheap text came on screen for the credits, and it went downhill rapidly from there. It's truly one of the worst movies I have seen, its just an excuse for women to get their clothes off and think because of this, they are actors. Get with the plan, its just to tutti late those rascally teens who have got their hands on this. It's ripping off Wrong Turn 2, and the acting is poor, as well as the lack of thrills, or even comedy.Heed the rankings, its a pig of a film, worthless and not worth the ninety minutes it festers for.I hated this movie..
Have you ever wondered why ? Of course you have. We all do from time to time, and it sure does feel mighty appropriate here. Steadily ever more, one finds themself pondering, why oh why am i still watching this ? And once or twice amongst those times, you really just have no answer. 2001 maniacs: Field of screams tries to place a spin on the classic setup of the original movie and it's recent remake by variation of an entirely insignificant fact. And it does so with impudent incompetence. This is one of those times where sloppy editing, bland direction, awful acting and a terrible, terrible script come together and gang up to form one giant assault on your precious free time. The whole thing has a distinct 'emanuelle' feel going while clearly also desperately tries to be another run off the mill teenage slasher-fest. But it merely ends up being long, uninteresting and quite frankly, just annoying to watch. Simple shooting tricks are never used. Cuts are made way too late or not at all and the only two people who are even trying to spout the horrible, sexist and childlike dialogue are bill moseley and lin shaye. Again, why are you two even in here ? Avoid this soft-core porn cash-in at all costs. This does not even resemble the original movie, or any kind of movie for that matter, at all.
Since this was a sequel to a movie that was no great shakes to begin with.Well, to start, no Robert Englund as the head Confederate ZOmbie. Also, for some reason, I guess they needed more racial diversity amongst Confederate Zombies as we now have a black zombie (played by Jar-Jar Binks himself, Ahmed Best) and an Asian Zombie whose presence in a Southern town would be kind of baffling.Besides that, it's kind of more of what you got in the first movie. Stupid people being killed by the zombies in gruesome ways (toned down compared to the last one) with bad racist, homophobic and bestiality jokes. You have the victims in this case, a crew of a reality TV show that resembles "The Simple Life" and clones of Paris Hilton (Rome Sheraton? Really? How about London Motel 8? Madrid Days In?) None of the characters are likable enough for you to care about them when they are killed, and a couple are bad stereotypes themselves, like the lesbian producer or the Jewish cameraman.
OK, I'm a Christa Campbell fan, and have almost everything she has appeared in. I will watch paint dry if Christa is standing in front of it. So, I expected to see her, and I expected the same fun I had with the first film.I was sorely disappointed that the film didn't have that magic of the first film. It was a collection of racial and sex jokes with occasional displays of feminine pulchritude. Some of that display came from the fake Paris & Nicole filming a reality trip to the South. You know you can't wait to see them get it.But, it was really just a version of Hee Haw the way we would have liked to see it. Maybe without the gore.Still, it had Christa Campbell, and she managed to keep me interested until the end.
